the murder of a Campbell County man.

The sheriff's department says...
Renaldo Sinclair Oliver of Gretna...
was arrested last night just before
nine... at his home on Blue Ridge
Drive.

degree murder in the death of Wilber
West, and is being held without bond at
the Campbell County Adult Detention
Center.

21-year-old Alphonso Lamont
Destin was taken into custody on
Wednesday night.

West was found shot to death
inside his home on Leewood Road last
weekend.

after approaching a sheriff's deputy
with a knife.

It happened a little before 11:00
last night... at the Red Oak Mobile
Home Park in Christiansburg.

Authorities say a Montgomery
County Deputy was attempting to serve
an arrest warrant to... 43-year-old
Donald Edward Lovern... when Lovern
came at him with the weapon.

Lovern suffered a gun shot wound
to the leg and was taken to the
hospital.

The deputy was not injured.

The shooting is still under
investigation.

his cows.

Thursday night in the Willis area.

Because the officer works for the
county, a special prosecutor from
Franklin County has been appointed to
handle the case.

sheriff's office says.... Deputy David
Cressel... shot Harvey Collins twice
Thursday night.

Collins' family says the
70-year-old man suffered from dementia.

*CG locator Fairlawn It happened at the Nicewander Way Thursday Night Trailer Park in Fairlawn.

Investigators say the deputy was
responding to a call when Collins
reportedly assaulted him.

The deputy is now on paid,
administrative leave.

According to court records,

Collins had been in trouble with the
law before.

In 2006, he pled guilty to
resisting arrest.

were fishing and camping in the
Jefferson National Forest earlier this
month.

A fellow fisherman befriended
them - and eventually shot them both
several times.

Police say that shooter was
Randall Lee Smith... a convicted
murdered who killed two hikers in the
same area back in the 80s.

Yesterday, the men returned to
the area where they were shot.

afternoon run-in with a man they were
later told was Randall Lee Smith.

Johnston said he looked thin and
was dressed in camoflouge head to toe.

He said his dog looked gaunt too.

campsite- told them his name was Ricky
Williams and told phoney stories.

Johnston said he fixed dinner -
trout, baked beans, chips - after -
more small talk around the fire.

When it got dark - Smith told
them he was going back to his camp.

kept quiet.

It happened so fast they couldn't
even feel the bullets hit them.

Farmer was shot in the side of
the face and in the chest.

Johnston - in the neck, back and
grazed by a bullet on his shoulder.

The men are also considering
writing a book about the ordeal.

Smith was convicted of killing two
people in the same area back more than
three decades ago.

He spent 15 years behind bars.

Smith was taken to the hospital
after crashing a truck he stole from
JOHNSTON and Farmer.

He died one day after he was
transferred to the New River Valley
Jail.

The cause of Smith's death has
not yet been determined.

those air conditioners run -- but it
could soon start costing a lot more to
keep the house cool.

Appalachian Power wants to raise
your rates about 25-percent.

one thousand kilowatt hours a month.

The company is asking the
state to approve two rate increase
requests within 150 days, so it won't
have to charge higher interim rates,

FATAL crane collapse in New York city.

morning...killing two construction
workers and seriously injuring another
one.

New York's Mayor says the collapse
is UNACCEPTABLE.

City building permit records did

This is the second...deadly CRANE
accident...in less than three months in

after approaching a sheriff's deputy
with a knife.

It happened a little before 11:00
last night.... at the Red Oak Mobile
Home Park in Christiansburg.

Authorities say a Montgomery
County Deputy was attempting to serve
an arrest warrant to... 43-year-old
Donald Edward Lovern... when Lovern
came at him with the weapon.

Lovern suffered a gun shot wound
to the leg and was taken to the
hospital.

The deputy was not injured.

The shooting is still under
investigation.

morning in Fairfax after coming down
with ASPIRATION PNEUMONIA.

Odone was diagnosed at age six...

with a neurological disease.

The efforts made by his parents
to find treatments for their son were
recounted in the 1992 film, Lorenzo's
Oil starring Nick Nolte and Susan
Sarandon.

Odone was 30 years old.
