delivered a one - two punch on Wall

Stephen Porpora, NYSE Trader:
Oil surged more than ten dollars after
Morgan Stanley predicted the cost of
crude could reach 150 dollars a barrel
by the 4th of July.
And unemployment climbed to
5-and-a-half percent- the biggest
monthly increase
in the nation's unemployment rate in
more than two decades.
BUSH SOT 13:56:29 IT IS CLEARLY A SIGN
THAT IS CONSISTENT WITH SLOW ECONOMIC
GROWTH
President Bush acknowledged the
deteriorating job market as he
introduced his
new Secretary of Housing and Urban
Development.
A record number of Americans are facing
foreclosure - and home sales have
plummeted in the last two years. Some
34-thousand the jobs lost in May were
in
the construction industry.
Alexis Christoforous, NYSE:
Investors weren't expecting good
unemployment news.. but numbers this
bad may dash any hope that an economic
turnaround is around the corner.
Main Street is already battered and
bruised from 4-dollar a gallon gas.
The higher oil prices climb - the less
consumers spend... and those empty
shopping malls and full car lots feed
unemployment.
PORPORA -
It's a vicious cycle.. that keeps
creating obstacles on the road to
economic recovery.

Jamestown vs. Blacksburg The Bruins were trying to stay
cool and catch a little shade on their
sideline.
The Bruins had plenty of scoring
chances in the first half as Tim Becker
fires a rocket that just misses -
clanging off of the right post.
Michael Releford did his part in
goal for the Bruins. Watch him make
the super stop on the Jamestown header
to keep things scoreless.
*CG final Jamestown
2 Releford would stand on his head
Blacksburg all day long, but he got little from
1 his offense as the normally Bruins see
GROUP AA SOCCER their season come to a close with a
2-to-1 loss to Jamestown in the
semi-finals.

Gretna vs. James River James River alum Angela Tincher
was taking this game in today along
with her coach Scot Thomas and Al
Brauns.
They would watch a good one as
Gretna's Nicole Mills hits one to right
center field. The ball gets past the
outfielder and Savannah Butts scores to
give the Hawks a 3-to-nothing lead on
the Knights.
*CG final Gretna

Radford vs. Mathews This is one of the games that was
moved just up the street from Dedmon
Center complex at Veterans Park along
the New River.
Glenvar was 6-to-2 in the fifth,
but the Highlanders were far from
finished. Mandy Lazenby hits a gapper
all the way to the fence in right
center. Cassie Strickland will try to
score on the deeo ball from third, but
she is gunned down at the plate to end
the Glenvar inning.
But the Highlanders would get
some more insurance in the 7th as
Jordan Herald rips a shot down the line
in left. it gets past the left fielder
and Julie Helton and Chasity Williams
crosses the dish and advance to the
state title game with an 8 to 3 win
over Mathews.

The latest blood results for
Abraham Cherrix show no signs of the
Hodgkin's Disease he's been battling
since 2005.
And for the first time in two
years, he no longer has to report his
test results to the Accomack County
court.
Cherrix won a court battle which
led to what's known as "Abraham's Law,"
giving teens and parents the rights to
refuse doctor-recommended treatments.

VO-NAT and it's not even a typical
watermelon.. thus the huge selling
price.
This is a 24 pound black waterrmelon
auctioned off in Japan ..and fetching

more than 6-thousand dollars.
These black melons are only grown
in Northern Japan and buyers are often
willing to pay top prices for the
