Wythe County was an apparent suicide.
They say two brothers were in the
back of a pickup truck on Interstate 81
last night, when one man jumped out of
the moving vehicle.
He was then hit by a car and died
at the scene.
The surviving brother's wife and
two children were in the front of the
truck at the time.
The incident shut down the
northbound lanes of I-81 and I-77 at
mile marker 75 near Wytheville.
They have since re-opened.
Police are not releasing the
victim's name until his family is
notified, but they say he was not a
Virginia resident.

(END SOT) Their rivalry's been in the spotlight
for months.....but not last night.
When Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama
finally sat down late yesterday, the
campaigns wanted to keep it quiet. And
that's what they got. No cameras, no
microphones.....and not much
information.
(SOT ROBERT GIBBS/OBAMA SPOKESMAN):
"SENATOR OBAMA WANTED TO DO SOME
MEETINGS,
OTHERS HAD A DESIRE TO MEET WITH
HIM...IN A PRIVATE WAY, AND THAT'S WHAT
WE'RE DOING."
Neither campaign would discuss the
topic of the sit-down...or even say
where
it was held. While the candidates
presumably spoke of uniting the party
for
November, there's no indication the
vice-presidential slot was even
discussed.
(NATSOT REPORTER): "WHO'S THE
PERSON...WHO DO WE COMPLAIN TO?"
(GIBBS): "THAT GUY LOOKS LIKE
ME!..(laughs)"
Reporters traveling with Obama didn't
find out till just before takeoff the
candidate wasn't coming...Setting off a
mad scramble across the capitol to
find out where the meeting was taking
place. Camera crews rushed to
Clinton's Washington home....only to
find other camera crews...and no sign
of
either candidate.
(SOT SEN. BARACK OBAMA/D-PRESIDENTIAL
CANDIDATE): "THE NEXT TIME YOU HEAR
FROM
ME ABOUT THE VICE PRESIDENTIAL
SELECTION PROCESS WILL BE WHEN I HAVE
SELECTED
A VICE-PRESIDENT."
Pressure's been mounting on Obama to
bring Clinton aboard since he secured
the
nomination. Her campaign has publicly
said she's NOT seeking the office but
Clinton has told lawmakers privately
she would be interested.
(oncam)
Neither Clinton nor Obama have any
events scheduled today...Clinton
probably
won't have much to say until Saturday
when she'll concede the race and fully
endorse Barack Obama.

ECONOMISTS NOTE THOSE BETTER SALES WERE

man is dead after an accident in Wythe

State Police say it was an
apparent suicide.
They say two brothers were in the

last night when one man jumped out of
the moving vehicle.
He was then hit by a car and died
at the scene.
The surviving brother's wife and
two children were in the front of the
truck at the time.
The incident shut down the
northbound lanes of I-81 and I-77 at
mile marker 75 near Wytheville.
They have since re-opened.
Police are not releasing the
victim's name until his family is
notified, but they say he was not a

Kelly has been in Bedford for 19

been one of the most challenging,
thanks to issues like the MRSA scare
last fall.
"Unfortunately, I had experienced
those types of crises a couple of other
times in my career. They're always
very difficult, but you always find
strength in the people around you."
And it's the people Roberts and
Kelly say they'll both miss the most.
"There's been a whole lot of good
relationships that have come out of
being here. And I love Staunton
River."
A love the students share too.
