500 new jobs.
Governor Tim Kaine announced today
that AREVA NP will invest $25 million
to expand its Lynchburg headquarters.
The company makes nuclear reactors,
and it is expecting more business.
AREVA already has two thousand
employees in Lynchburg.
The company received two and a half
million dollars from the Governor's
Opportunity Fund, and from the Virginia
Economic Development Partnership whic
worked with the City of Lynchburg and
Virginia's Region 2000 Partnership to
secure the project for Virginia.

20- year- old Juan Luis Gonzales
Castro was killed when the 1999 GMC
Jimmy ran off the right side of the
road and overturned.
The driver and another passenger
ran from the scene.

released more information on a deadly
accident they say was an apparent
suicide.
Officials say two brothers were
in the back of a pickup truck on
Interstate 81 in Wythe County last
night.
That's when 49 year old Kirk
Thomas Miller of Asheboro, North
Carolina jumped from the moving
vehicle.
He was then hit by a car and died
at the scene.
The surviving brother's wife and
two children were in the front of the
truck at the time.
The incident shut down the
northbound lanes of I-81 and I-77 at
mile marker 75 near Wytheville.
They have since re-opened.

Hillary Clinton's campaign says she's
not seeking the vice presidency, but a
top supporter says -- she would accept
it, if Barack Obama picks her. That's
according to her fellow New York
Senator Chuck Schumer. And, it comes

morning after a secret meeting between
Clinton and Obama in Washington.
The pair went to great lengths to keep
it quiet -- even sending Obama's
traveling press corps back to Chicago
without him.

Lisa Miller went to Vermont to enter
into a civil union with her partner
Janet Jenkins.
Two years later she was
artificially inseminated and gave birth
to a daughter, Isabella.
Miller later disavowed
homosexuality and the civil union was
dissolved.
Jenkins still lives in Vermont
and has been fighting for visitation
rights.
Vermont courts have ruled in her
favor, and now the Virginia Supreme
Court has as well.

The court agreed with Randolph's

rejected the students' claim that the
school could not raise money for
single-sex education, and then use it

latest snapshot of the economy shows...
dwindling jobs while the housing,
credit and financial markets remain in
crisis.
Unemployment climbed more than expected
to 5-and-half percent. The half point
jump is the largest monthly increase in
22 years - a sign that the job market
is deteriorating.
34 thousand of those jobs were in the
construction industry... Home sales
have
plummeted in the past two years. And a
record number of people are facing
foreclosure. The number of late
mortgage payments is also at a record
high...
And there are no signs of a turnaround.
And oil prices surged again this
morning... more than seven dollars a
barrel.
Morgan Stanley is now predicting prices
could hit 150 dollars a barrel by the
fourth of July.
Higher costs in hard times are forcing
Americans to cut back on spending...
and that could further cripple an
economy that already slowing down. AC,

Kermit Bryson's girlfriend.
After 20 minutes of negotiations
with police, they say Bryson shot
himself in the head.

Chattanooga.
Bryson allegedly shot Deputy Shane
Tate when Tate tried to arrest him for
violating his probation.

three gas stations and a Starbucks,

Craig admitted to police that she

The first six rounds of the draft
took place yesterday....and a former
high school star from southside was
selected.

the 160th pick by the Atlanta Braves.
The former Tunstall Trojan, who
is a junior at UVA, is a six-six, 215
pounder.
His career record at Virginia is
27 and 8 making him the winningest
pitcher in Virginia history. He's
started 47 games in career as a
Cavalier and his earned run average is
a very solid 2 point 65.
He slipped into the 5th round
mainly because his junior year was as
great as 2007 when he went 11 and 0 and
a was a first team all-American.
