Henry County kept firefighters busy
overnight and into the morning.
The Fieldcrest Cannon building
was turned into a warehouse to
distribute clothing less than a year
ago.. but as News 7's Sinu Abraham
found out-- for the community-- it was
a piece of history that went up in
flames.

It was a long night for the for the
Fieldale Volunteer Rescue Squad. Even
though the mill had been closed for
several years-- Putting out the fire
also meant tearing down a piece of
Fieldale's history--once again

neighboring counties were sent to the

inside-- made it a difficult battle.

OF THE CLOTHING THAT WAS STORED HERE IS

State Police say Randell Kevin
Bryant of Sprout Spring was thrown from
his vehicle.
The 40-year-old died at the
scene.

tomorrow night for the Roanoke City
police officer who was paralyzed on the
job almost a month ago.

He was beaten on May 10th after
chasing down two men.

money for Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma
Research at Duke University.
The groups played charity flag
football this afternoon.
The cause hits home for Roanoke
firefighter Richard Lipes.
His former battalian chief was
diagnosed with cancer and was forced to
retire due to his illness.

heat. Highs are forecast in the lower

Hillcats are both near the bottom of
the standings in their respective
Carolina League Divisions. Today the
two were looking for something positive
as the season nears the halfway point.

Sunday drive in the Poconos today on
the tricky triangle, but for some it
was certainly no picnic in the
Pennsylvania 500.

Points leader Kurt's borther Kyle Busch
went to a backup car after wrecking in
practice, and here he tries to squeeze

another spin.
A little later, more crunching
as Clint Bowyer goes on a spin o rama
and Juan Montoya slams into his ride.
Montoya's car eventually burst into
flames, but he would escape o-k.
In the end, pole sitter Kasey
Kahne was out front in the clean air.
He led Brian Vickers and Denny Hamlin
across the stripe for his 2nd win this
season, moving from 12th to 9th in the
points standings.
