storm- weary mid-westerners dealing

Across the region, at least eight
people are dead and thousands are

And as we know all to well...in the

Three states in the Midwest have been
declared disaster areas after violent

storms caused flooding. And more could
be on the way.

(Natz water pump)

Thousands are pumping out their
basements and assessing damage. It
was a

weekend of worry after torrential rains
caused flash floods and forced

thousands to seek higher ground.

Sot: mos

"The streets were completely covered up
to our front door."

In hard hit Wisconsin and
Indiana....even more nasty weather is
expected that

could trigger tornadoes.

(Drew Levinson Bridge/New York)

Here in the northeast...it is flat out
sweltering. Temperatures will be

nudging 100 degrees and many New
Yorkers just are not ready for it to
get so

hot - so fast.

With humidity, the heat index could hit
105.

Sot: mos

Sot: mos

The heat wave stretches from southern
New England....down to the Carolinas.

And with oppressive humidity....comes
the possibility of severe thunderstorms

and dangerous hail.

Forecasters expect the high
temperatures to linger until Tuesday...
people in

the Midwest are also hoping to catch
a break some time soon.

Roanoke Valley Hall of Fame Marshall Bailey of Fincastle just :00 finished his freshman year at Tech.

He nailed this putt on 18 to go to
a playoff with Fielding Brewbaker.

Brewbaker rallied from a 5- shot
deficit, but needed this putt on the
first hole of sudden death to keep it
going, but he just burns the edge.

Bailey won it with a birdie.

TNT Kurt Busch brought out the early :00 caution flag with this spin in the
corner, as he got loose in the 2
machine for Penske Racing.

That was just the beginning.

Points leader Kurt's brother Kyle
Busch went to a backup car after
wrecking in practice.

And here he tries to squeeze into a
spot that wasn't there, clipping Jamie
McMurray and cutting a tire in the
process-- finishing 43rd after another
spin.

A little later, more crunching,

as Clint Bowyer spins and Juan Montoya
slams into his ride. Montoya's car
eventually burst into flames, but he
would escape o-k.

After an early mishap in the
pits, Kahne battled back and was out
front when it counted.

He led Brian Vickers and Denny Hamlin
across the stripe for his 2nd win this
season, moving from 12th to 9th in the
points standings.
