Walton killed three people
in Danville back in 1996, pleaded
guilty and was sentenced to death.
But questions about his
mental capacity kept the case in the

raised more than three thousand dollars
for a police officer who was left
paralyzed after a run in with a
suspect.

Blue 5 in downtown Roanoke hosted
the event to raise money for Officer
Bryan Lawrence.
The local band solrevolt played
for nearly three hours and this was
especially personal for the band
members because many of them are also
police officers.
They have enormous respect and
admiration for Officer Lawrence.

has been delivering the June extreme
heat is slowly weakening and drifting
off the coast. This will allow a cold
front to approach from the west,
increasing the clouds and also shower
chances over the next several days.
We have one more hot one today before
temperatures begin the slow walk
downward. Look for highs Tuesday around
95 in Roanoke, with continued high
humidity. Clouds will increase with a
few afternoon showers and storms.
Wednesday through Friday, look for
partly cloudy skies with an occasional
afternoon shower/storm, and highs
reaching the upper 80s. The weekend
looks about the same, with an afternoon

Sweltering heat again today...with
afternoon highs soaring into the mid
90s.
But we'll see a bit of a cooldown
tomorrow..when temperatures are back in
the 80s.

information...Pulaski County schools
are letting out two hours early today
because of the hot weather.

affected 16 states including Virginia
and now several major restaraunt chains
are pulling sliced, uncooked tomatoes
off their menus because of of it.

Also, Plateau Plaza - a well
known stop along Route 220 between
Boones Mill and Rocky Mount is pulling
tomatoes at locally owned Bo Jangles'.
And nationwide Dairy Queen is
doing the same - something customers
are NOT complaining about.

At least one sit down restaurant,
Famous Anthony's says by the end of
this week it will stop serving uncooked
tomatoes until this salmonella issue
gets resolved.
Nationwide, the health department
reports 145 people have gotten sick.

Northern Virginia.

is challenging the way the Virginia
Lottery plays the game.

last ten months studying statistical
probabilities behind the lottery's
scratcher games.
He says the lottery continues to
sell tickets that have no chance of
winning once all of the grand prize
tickets have been sold.

Hirsbrunner in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. The high pressure system that
has been delivering the June extreme
heat is slowly weakening and drifting
off the coast. This will allow a cold
front to approach from the west,
increasing the clouds and also shower
chances over the next several days.
We have one more hot one today before
temperatures begin the slow walk
downward. Look for highs Tuesday around
95 in Roanoke, with continued high
humidity. Clouds will increase with a
few afternoon showers and storms.
Wednesday through Friday, look for
partly cloudy skies with an occasional
afternoon shower/storm, and highs
reaching the upper 80s. The weekend
looks about the same, with an afternoon
shower/storm possible. For the latest
