already spent nearly two million

Callahan says he appreciates

Rivers throughout the region are still

Hundreds of homes - especially in Iowa

The rain just keeps on falling, rivers
continue swelling and dams have begun

Officials in Iowa and Indiana are very
worried that major rivers will surge

completely out of control. The Army

the

sandbags...and not enough time.

LIKE IT'S AN OVEN ON 400 DEGREES!"

All along the East Coast, temperatures
have soared 10 to 20 degrees above

normal. In the past couple days,
records have been broken in nearly 50

locations from the Deep South to the
Canadian border. And it'll be at LEAST

one more day before it cools down.

(SOT font late CARL

REMARKABLE HEAT WAVE

BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THE RECORDS THAT
HAVE BEEN BROKEN - GOING ALL THE WAY

BACK TO 1899 IN SOME CASES."

expected to follow suit today.

Today she arrives like a star.

SCREAMS AS MORRISON EMERGES FROM
A LIMO

It's part of a special goodbye.

A limo ride was the first of many
surprises.

Students lined up to greet her
with hugs and high fives.

SOUND OF GLASS MARCHING BAND

as the marching band played in
her honor.

But the biggest surprise

MORRISON SCREAMS WITH EXCITEMENT

the site of her daughter, who
made a special trip home for the event.

"June the 9th, 2008, Susan D.
Morrison Day!"

With a proclamation from the
mayor, her own throne and even a tiara.

It's all a bit overwhelming.

Susan Morrison: "I really didn't
want anything. I just wanted school to
end and they promised me that would be
the way we'd do this."

But for the school's first female
principal, the second longest serving
administrator in the school's history,
they couldn't let her go without a
party.

And a few gifts.

SOUND OF STUDENTS SCREAMING

Like this painting that will hang
in the school's front hallway.

Gifts that bring Morrison to
tears and leave her reflecting on her
28 year career.

"I'm just thankful to have been a
part of the history at this school."

and the school is thankful for
her.

"E.C. Glass High will miss you."

SKY1 << Good morning, I'm Meteorologist Leo LEO TOSS STRAIGHT TO COMMERCIAL Hirsbrunner in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. The high pressure system that COMM has been delivering the June extreme
heat is slowly weakening and drifting
off the coast. This will allow a cold
front to approach from the west,
increasing the clouds and also shower
chances over the next several days.
We have one more hot one today before
temperatures begin the slow walk
downward. Look for highs Tuesday around
95 in Roanoke, with continued high
humidity. Clouds will increase with a
few afternoon showers and storms.
Wednesday through Friday, look for
partly cloudy skies with an occasional
afternoon shower/storm, and highs
reaching the upper 80s. The weekend
looks about the same, with an afternoon
shower/storm possible. For the latest
