friends was diving off a pedestrian
bridge that crosses the James River
between Big Island and Glasgow.
One of the men leaped into the
water and never came up.
Rescue crews from Big Island,
Moneta, and Smith Mountain Lake started
searching for him around 4:30 this
afternoon.
They found his body about an hour
later with the help of this underwater
video camera.

They're battling another element
in California, where lightning has
sparked more than 500 wildfires.
One fire in particular has
destroyed one home, caused but dozens
have had to evacuate, and the fire's
threatening more than 100 buildings.
Rough terrain and rising
temperatures are making it extremely
difficult for firefighters.

Hotel guests in San Antonio
weren't thrilled about having to leave
their rooms in the middle of the night.
About 200 guests evacuated
because of a carbon monoxide leak.
Hotel workers first caught wind -
something wasn't right when a woman
complained about having a headache and
feeling naseau.
Paramedics discovered she and her
young daughter both had high levels of
C-O-2.

Searchers are looking for four
men in California after an overloaded
boat sank.
Authorities say 10 men were
packed into a 14-foot aluminum boat.
According to witnesses, the four
missing men couldn't swim and weren't
wearing life jackets.
Authorities arrested the boat's
driver on suspicion of boating while
intoxicated.

daughter died in a car crash three
years ago.

showed up for a scholarship fundraiser
in honor of Melissa Sink this weekend.
Two teens from Franklin County
High School were each got 500 dollars
for writing essays on the importance of
buckling up.
In all, the charity event has
