upheld the jury's decision from back in
March.
A jury found him guilty of
killing Montgomery County Sheriff's
deputy Eric Sutphin and hospital
security guard Derrick McFarland as he
escaped custody at Montgomery Regional
Hospital.
Morva lead police on a 37- hour
manhunt that terrorized the Virginia
Tech campus.

hoping you can help after an early
morning murder.

for suspects including this man -
Maurice Pritchett of Martinsville.

connected to the shooting deaths of
three men in the Ridgecrest Trailer
Park in Collinsville.
Investigators say two of the men
were found dead, the other taken to the
hospital where he later died.
The sheriff's office believes one
of the suspects may be injured after
going through a window in the trailer.
Investigators eventually tracked
a suspicious SUV to a nearby
neighborhood- it was found abandoned,
but they believe Pritchett was in that
vehicle.

chest and cut his girlfriend's arm had
Blacksburg police busy this weekend.
Charles Daniel McCroskey of
Christiansburg went on the run and was
later arrested Sunday.
He's charged with attempted
malicious wounding and malicious
wounding.
Both McCroskey and his girlfriend
were treated at the hospital and
released.
He's in jail without bond.

the notion that a group of teenage
girls made a pact to get pregnant.
The high school is experiencing a

the Seven Dirty Words You Can't say on
Television, the resulting trial worked
its way all the way to the nation's top
court.
The justices ruled the routine
indecent.

Transportation Session today.

He's calling for an one- percent
increase in the tax on vehicle sales
along with a ten- dollar increase in

Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. A cold front continues its
move east across the region and will
eventually head towards the coast
overnight. With the front nearby, the
potential still exists for hit and miss
showers and thunderstorms this evening.
Some of these may once again be strong
to severe, with hail and damaging winds
being the main threat. Any storms
should diminish before midnight with
drier air arriving behind the front.
An area of high pressure builds in
behind the front with sunshine
returning Tuesday through Thursday.
Despite climbing temperatures, look for
decreasing humidity through late this
week. Looks like our next storm
chances are once again timing out to
arrive over the weekend. At the moment,
there's about a 40% chance of storms

All-Stars that will tae on the National
Team Doesn't not include Tincher.

July 24th when the game between the
U-S-A and the group of All-Stars is
played at Kiwanis Field in Salem.
Tincher just wrapped up her
career at Virginia Tech and no-hit the
U.S. Team this past season, could not
work out things with her schedule as a
member of the Pro Softball Team the
Akron Racers.
Tincher Said "Unfortunately, due
to team obligations and a series at
Rockford, I will be unable to join the
Salem roster. Playing in front of
friends, family and fans would have
been great, and I wish them the best of
luck, but we just couldn't get it
worked out.

him in action on the racetrack - you'd
swear he was seasoned veteran.

Young Michael got the racing bug
and his skills honestly. The grandson
of Sweak McGuire, the nephew of Tony
and the son of Tim - is well aware of
the exploits of his famous racing
family.

Michael is racing this season at
Gluth's Franklin County Speedway a
track sanctioned by the American Speed
Association. ASA, which produced the
likes of Mark Martin and Jimmie
Johnson, allows drivers to begin racing
at the age of 12 unlike NASCAR which
has a 16 year old age limit.
TIM MCGUIRE
Michael actually began racing at
the age of five. In six years, he's
managed to win 75 races along with
carting championships in Virginia and
Tennessee along with three national
competitions.
