(END SOT) (Gun-thur HO-fin) had never been to
Lynchburg - but he's driven more than
33-hundred miles - by himself - on a
motorcycle to spend three days here.
Guenther Hofen/Visiting Lynchburg
from California: "This trip has been
the most eventful experience of my
life."
This is no vacation.
Hofen's traveled from Sacramento,
California - to support preachers.
Hofen: "They're there for us,
they pray for us, they come along side
of us. But when they get in trouble.
When they have financial challenges or
perhaps one of their children is in
trouble or something like that, or
they've just got personal issues, who
comes alongside them?"
Hofen is raising money for
preachers - to send them to counseling
centers and retreats - so they can get
refreshed and stay in the church.
He admits the work has left him
hungry.
Hofen: "A box full of high
protein bars, that keeps me on the road
during the day."
Hofen's had a few setbacks on his
trip. He's already had to replace his
back tire once and he'll have to
replace it again before he leaves
Lynchburg. But he says every event on
this trip has given him a chance to
meet new people and share his story.
Hofen: "I've met people
everywhere - in truck stops, rest
stops. I have this huge sign on the
back that says helping hurting pastors
dot com and a fellow comes up to me and
says 'I've been following you for 200
miles! I've gotta find out what this is
all about.'"
And while this trip is putting
the spotlight on Hofen - he's shifting
the focus right back on the church.
Hofen: "We're trying to tell
people that their pastors are always
there for them. Don't take them for
granted."
A mission he shares in every mile
he travels.

<< Good evening, I'm meteorologist
Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. The same high pressure that
brought sunshine today with pleasant
conditions, will make a move off the
coast Wednesday. This will bring in
warm, southerly winds with highs
topping out near 90 by the afternoon.
You may notice a bit more humidity, but
it certainly won't be intolerable. The
generally rain-deprived pattern will
stick with us until the weekend. Look
for only slight (20%) storm chances
Thursday and Friday, with better
scattered storm chances Saturday and
Sunday (40%). Highs each afternoon will
range in the mid and upper 80s to near
90 degrees. An upper level system
will linger in the Great Lakes over the
weekend. This will produce several
waves of disturbances that will push
storms through Saturday and Sunday. The
timing of these is still "up in the
air." However, if you're trying to make
some outdoor plans or out on the lake,
you may want to have a shelter nearby.
