morning after police were called to a
home in Roanoke.
They aren't calling it a standoff
at this point, but officials tell News
7 they do have a man in custody.
Authorities were called to the
1600 block of Padbury Street around
1:30 for a disturbance call.
Police were unable to make
contact with a man inside for several
hours.
The man came out of the house on
his own accord around 4:30.
Police say they are still
investigating the details and have not
released the mans name.

morning in a triple murder case in
Collinsville.
Authorities in Henry County have
now arrested a fourth man in connection
with the murders.

VO-NAT 17-year-old Carl Deshaun Turner
was arrested shortly before midnight
last night.
Two men and one teen were
arrested yesterday morning.
Maurice Prichett, Jordon Stockton
and the teens- face capital murder,
robbery and gun charges in connection
to a shooting in the Ridgecrest Trailer
Park.
The victims, three men were
killed in a trailer early Monday
morning.
Investigators say they hope this
case sends a message to the community.

released the name of one of victims -
Gabriel Rogel row-hell -Mirafuentes.
The sheriff says this case WAS
drug related, and the suspects had
planned to rob Mirafuentes and the
other two men.

obvious reaction to the verdict, his
mother, Susi Killingsworth was so
distraught she had to be treated by
paramedics.
A few minutes later she was able
to leave the courthouse on her own-
-aided by her family.
Meanwhile REGINALD Killingsworth
was taken back to his cell in the city
jail.
The same jury that convicted
him... of capital murder, attempted
robbery and two counts of the use of

milestone.

VO-NAT Robert Stacy Yarbrough was killed
by lethal injection at the Greensville
Correctional Center last night.
It's Virginia's 100th execution
since capital punishment was
re-instated three-decades ago.
He was executed for killing a
77-year-old Mecklenburg County store
owner during a robbery eleven years
ago.
Virginia ranks second to Texas in
the number of executions performed
since the U-S Supreme Court ruled
executions are constitutional in 1976.

a full staff in place at the Western
Virginia Regional Jail by the end of
this year.

people have submitted applications for

Parents' own morals and values often
dictate rules about alcohol use that
may
change as their teen gets older - but
the acting surgeon general warns that
many parents don't realize the risk.
While underage drinking is nothing new
- it does lead to thousands of
alcohol-related traffic deaths and
injuries each year.

respond.
Yesterday's exercise simulated
the aftermath of a tornado touching
down in Blacksburg.
It all played out at the old
Middle School where there were many
obstacles for first responders from
downed power lines to causalities.
Police say this type of training
is critical, to prepare for a
catastrophe like this.

of Thomas Jefferson's home in
Charlottesville are concerned about the
health of a giant Tulip Poplar.
They determined the 150- year- old
landmark has suffered irreparable root
damage, and has to come down.
Officials had debated cutting down

on a new stage and fly-tower.
Interior work will also be done
to make the building look the way it
did in 1911.
Right now, the theater is in bad
shape.
It's been empty since 1958 and

But Academy leaders hope the
renovated theater will give the Hill
City a new cultural destination.

morning after police were called to a
home in Roanoke.
They aren't calling it a standoff
at this point, but officials tell News
7 they do have a man in custody.
Authorities were called to the
1600 block of Padbury Street around
1:30 for a disturbance call.
Police were unable to make
contact with a man inside for several
hours.
The man came out of the house on
his own accord around 4:30.
Police say they are still
investigating the details and have not
released the mans name.

now arrested a fourth person in
connection with a triple murder in
Collinsville.

was arrested shortly before midnight
last night.
Two men and one teen were
arrested yesterday morning.
Maurice Prichett, Jordon Stockton
and the teens- face capital murder,
robbery and gun charges in connection
to a shooting in the Ridgecrest Trailer
Park.
The victims, three men were
killed in a trailer early Monday
morning.
Investigators say they hope this
case sends a message to the community.

years of sitting empty..the curtain
will soon rise at Lynchburg's Academy
theater.

(END SOT) ruined the Academy Theater.
Ornate designs on the wall are
crumbling.
Some parts aren't even safe to
walk through.
It's a far cry from the early
1900's - when some of the nation's top
acts performed here.
Ron Kastner/Academy of Fine Arts:
"We had classical musicians, popular
musicians, plays, musicals."
It later became a movie theater.
But the rise of other attractions
caused the Academy to lose its luster.
It shut down in 1958.
Kastner: "Maybe it was just
viewed as too shabby and run down to
really devote the money to fix it up."
The Academy was almost torn down
in the late 60's to make way for a
bridge. Preservationists came to the
rescue, but they weren't able to
restore the inside. 40 years later,
they finally have the money and the
backing they need to get the job done.
Molds are being used to recreate
the theater's architecture.
You can see what the walls will
eventually look like.
Construction will also begin soon
on a new stage - the original was lost
in a storm.
Once the theater re-opens, it'll
host broadway shows and other
productions - things you currently have
to drive to Roanoke or Charlottesville
to see.

Academy of Fine Arts: "If Lynchburg
wants to revitalize, it needs us."
Richard Kordos says the Academy
will give the Hill City a much needed
cultural element.
Kordos: "We have the potential of
bringing downtown, on a daily basis, on
a weekly basis, certainly yearround,
thousands of people."
So while it's taken 50 years to
re-open, it could be worth the wait.

morning after police were called to a
home in Roanoke.
They aren't calling it a standoff
at this point, but officials tell News
7 they do have a man in custody.
Authorities were called to the
1600 block of Padbury Street around
1:30 for a disturbance call.
Police were unable to make
contact with a man inside for several
hours.
The man came out of the house on
his own accord around 4:30.
Police say they are still
investigating the details and have not
released the mans name.

morning in a triple murder case in
Collinsville.
Authorities in Henry County have
now arrested a fourth person in
connection with the murders.

was arrested shortly before midnight
last night.
Two men and one teen were
arrested yesterday morning.
Maurice Prichett, Jordon Stockton
and the teens- face capital murder,
robbery and gun charges in connection
to a shooting in the Ridgecrest Trailer
Park.
The victims, three men were
killed in a trailer early Monday
morning.
Investigators say they hope this
case sends a message to the community.

The sheriff says this case WAS
drug related and the suspects had

milestone.

by lethal injection at the Greensville
Correctional Center last night.
It's Virginia's 100th execution
since capital punishment was
re-instated three-decades ago.
He was executed for killing a
77-year-old Mecklenburg County store
owner during a robbery eleven years
ago.
Virginia ranks second to Texas in
the number of executions performed
since the U-S Supreme Court ruled
executions are constitutional in 1976.

paying a lot more for gas -- and this
time, it's not the price of oil -- it's
taxes.
The taxes made it through the
Virginia Senate today, and are supposed
to pay for road construction.

The plan raises the gas tax six
cents over the next six years.
It also calls for a quarter
percent increase in the state sales
tax.
To lessen the blow, it also
eliminates the half- cent sales tax on
food that currently feeds the
transportation trust fund.

Meantime, delegates on the Rules
Committee yesterday considered Governor
Kaine's plan.

Tree doctors inspecting the grounds
of Thomas Jefferson's home in
Charlottesville are concerned about the
health of a giant Tulip Poplar.
They determined the 150- year- old
landmark has suffered irreparable root
damage, and has to come down.
Officials had debated cutting down
the tree since the early 20th Century.

plant is a go in southwest Virginia.
The one-point-eight billion
dollar Dominion Virginia Power plant
will be built in Wise.
A state panel approved it but it
came with conditions to reduce planned
emissions of sulfur dioxide and

officers. 100 in all.
50 will be hired in September
another 50 in November. Since each
person will have to go through a three
month academy experience at this level
isn't a huge factor.

inmates coming from Roanoke, Montgomery
