County.
Stone reportedly had an ongoing

are back on the job -- cleared from any
wrongdoing after killing a man...

May 12 A state police investigation
shows officers Brian Davis and Larry
Rigney were justified when they used
deadly force against Brian Long of
Hurt.
It happened May 12.
Investigators say Long came at
the officers with a shotgun.
Davis and Rigney told Long to
drop his weapon - when he didn't, they
shot him.
The two officers were placed on
administrative leave.
Altavista's police chief says
they are now back on the force.

for a man from Halifax County.

32-year-old Jerry Conner, Junior
drowned Saturday in the Staunton River,
near Brookneal.
Conner was taking part in the
annual Fun Float event, where thousands
ride down the river in boats, canoes
and intertubes.
Investigators say Connor was not
wearing a life vest.
Fun Float organizers say they
encourage everyone to wear a safety
vest on the river, but the liability
rests with the individual.

ends up having to have emergency brain
surgery this weekend after an accident
at Smith Mountain Lake.
Today he's in stable condition at
Roanoke Memorial.
Authorities say the boy's father
was on a jet ski dragging his son who
was knee boarding behind him.
The dad made a wide turn and the
boy crashed into a dock.
The accident happened Saturday
afternoon at Beavers Dam Creek on the
Bedford side of the lake.

room after a motorcycle wreck in

driver lost control.
The motorcycle overturned, and
apparently hit the guard rail.
There's no word on the condition
of the driver or passenger.

court clerks put land records online.
That can include divorce decrees
and certain financial information that,
in some cases, includes social security
numbers and signatures.

law prohibits citizens from
disseminating public records with
social security numbers.
B-J Ostergren (Oster- green) says
that violates her right to free speech.
Her website, Virginia Watchdog-
dot- com, posts public records and

General Jerry Kilgore.
She uses those documents to make
the point that putting sensitive
information online is dangerous.
