Saturday Night Tara Wheeler, who was crowned
Saturday night at the Civic Center,

She played ice hockey for years,
participated in ROTC at Penn State and
almost went into the air force.


But after a dare from her mother
to do something a little more girlie,
the Arlington resident decided to enter
a pageant her junior year in college.


For the next year Wheeler's

Washington Redskins of all-time are
heading to the pro football Hall of
Fame later this summer.


But before they are enshrined in
Canton, Ohio Art Monk and Darrell Green
are using their big names to help
underpriviledged kids in the DC Metro
area with their "Route 281 Road to
Canton Tour."


Green's number was 28 and Monk's
was 81 - thus the choice of 281.

But yesterday, the choice was to
be in Lynchburg on the campus of
Liberty University.


Monk and Green brought along some


of their former Redskins' teammates to
mingle with fans and sign autographs.


Brian Mitchell, Dexter Manley,
Joe Jacoby, Mark Moseley and Pulaski's
own Gary Clark were in attendance.


Fans had to pay for the
signatures with all of the proceeds
going to Green's Youth Life Foundation
and Monk's Good Samaritan foundation.


Monk played 16 years in the NFL
while Green's career spanned 20
seasons.
