Federal investigators are at the
scene of a deadly Arizona helicopter
crash.
Two medical choppers collided in

killing six people.
Emergency crews reached the wreckage
Sunday afternoon just before something
exploded inside one of the helicopters.

Two emergency workers suffered minor
burns.. a flight nurse on one of the
helicopters survived the crash and was
taken from the scene with extensive
injuries.
One of the choppers had picked up a
patient with a medical emergency from
the Grand Canyon.. and was trying to
land at the medical center .. the
second helicopter, operated by a
different company, was also taking a
patient to that same hospital.
The Center doesn't have flight
controllers.. so it is up to the pilots
to
watch each other and communicate by
radio.
The Utah operator of one of the
helicopters said their pilot had more
than
10,000 hours of flight time.
Officials haven't been able to say what
happened just before the collision.
It's the biggest loss in life in an
Arizona helicopter crash since two news
choppers over a car chase collided in
mid-air last summer. Drew Levinson,

News.

Across the nation, the price of gas is
now the top issue on people's minds..
ahead of the economy, health care and
Iraq.

But in Lafayette, Louisiana ... drivers
are getting a break today. A car
dealership is selling gas for 99 cents
a gallon. The owner says it is his way

But at the end of the day... the price
is only expected to go higher.
Analysts predict.. Americans will be
paying five dollars a gallon by the end
of the year... and seven dollars by
2010.

A local professor has just
returned from the volatile region.
Thanks to an academic
fellowship, Ed Lynch of Hollins
University recently journeyed to Israel
and the West Bank to help prepare for a
new terrorism course he'll be teaching
this Fall.
Ed joins us now in our studios
to share some stories and photos from
his trip...
Good Afternoon, Ed.
So, you were in the Middle East for 10
days...where exactly did you go?
We have a few pictures...tell us what
these are...
You'd mentioned that you had the
chance to actually talk to convicted
terrorists-- were you surprised at all
by what they had to say?
And you also found out who they
preferred in the U-S presidential
election....who do they prefer, and
why?
I imagine there's been a lot of
interest in the terrorism course...how
will you incorporate what you saw on
the trip in that class?
Would you go back to the Middle East?
Thanks again for coming by to share
part of your trip with us....

Monk and Green brought along some
of their former Redskins' teammates to
mingle with fans and sign autographs.
Brian Mitchell, Dexter Manley,
Joe Ja- coby, Mark Moseley and
Pulaski's own Gary Clark were in
attendance.
Fans had to pay for the
signatures with all of the proceeds
going to Green's Youth Life Foundation
and Monk's Good Samaritan foundation.
Monk played 16 years in the NFL
while Green's career spanned 20
seasons.
