in a hit and run accident in Roanoke
County.
It happened last night around 10
o'clock.
Police say a 21-year-old was hit
by a white Jeep Wrangler while walking
in the 4500 block of Fort Lewis Church
Road.
Police found the Jeep a few
blocks from the scene.
The driver, James Reiling, was
arrested and charged with DUI.
The victim was taken to a local
hospital.

industrial area.

being pinned by a minivan. It happened
at the Kwik Shop on Audubon drive
around 4 PM Monday. Police say
23-year-old Edward Charles Green of
Danville was trying to park in front of
the Kwik Shop when he lost control and
hit the building. A man standing in
front of the store was hit and pressed
between Green's van and a window. The
victim was taken to Danville Regional
Medical Center with injuries to his
upper body. Green is charged with
reckless driving.

clerks put land records online.
That can include divorce decrees
and certain financial information that,
in some cases, includes social security
numbers and signatures.

She uses those documents to make
the point that putting sensitive

be missing an important one.

The art museum remains under lock and
key but come November 8th it will
finally open to the public but
Roanoke's top leader won't be there.

points out it was planned long before
he was elected mayor.
But it's raising a few eye brows
because the mayor elect has not been a
huge fan of the new art museum in the
past.
It's led some to wonder whether he is
snubbing the art museum by not being
there for the grand opening.

Bowers wishes he could be there and
he will take part in events the week

He says despite past misgivings about
the new art museum, he now supports it
as mayor.

An art project in Lynchburg is
keeping kids busy having fun and
learning this summer.
It's art combined with geometry,
history and chemistry.
That's the curriculum of
Amazement Square's City Art Mosiac
Project.

When finished, it will be a 400-
foot- long depiction of Lynchburg's
history along the James River.
Middle school and high school
students are tackling the task of
tiling a section of the wall.
There are several lessons rolled
into one as the students break the
tile... only to piece it back together
again the historic landscape.

step closer to rejoining the Virginia
Tech basketball team.

points a game last season as a
freshman, parted ways with the team at
the end of last season.
But Barbour has enrolled in the
second summer session at Tech, and if
she is able to show the coaching staff

hasn't exactly lived up to expectations
in the last two summer games.
This year's club hopes to buck the
trend in just a few weeks in Beijing.
After wrapping up two days of
workouts

picture in the harbor in the shadow of
the Statue of Liberty, and conducting a
kids' clinic at the Rockefeller Center.
The United States hasn't won
the Gold since 2000, and in order to
remedy that problem, U-S-A Basketball
has taken a different approach to this
year's Games.

isn't until October, but the oldest and
the shortest track on the Sprint Cup
circuit will have a much different look
and feel when the Cup cars race in the
Tums Quikpak 500.

A new 120 foot scoreboard will
replace the old one.
It will feature 3 thirty- foot video
screens.
And if you think the pits are
crowded, the media center is even
worse.
It too is being refurbished and

The top four seeds on the ladies'
side of the draw are all out, but Venus
and Serena are still in it at the All
England club.

yesterday, advancing into the Quarters
with a straight set win, 6-4, 6-3.
Her sister Serena played just
after Venus on Court 2, and won in

sisters are the only 2 Americans left
in either men's or women's singles
