attempted robbery yesterday in
Southeast Roanoke has been released
from the hospital.


Roanoke Police have identified
him as 61-year-old Robert Kennedy.

Sanco's drug store on Riverland Road,
that's near Garden City Blvd.


Roanoke Police say during an
attempted robbery the suspect was shot
and killed inside the store.

happened and saw the would-be robber
enter the drug store.

killed by a car in Amherst County says
justice has not been served.


This after Kaylie Silby was
convicted for her part in the death of
two-year-old Omarion Rose, back on
January 14th.

In court yesterday, Silby
testified that she was reaching for her
cell phone as she drove up Seminole
Drive that morning.

*CG locator Madison Heights Prosecutors say reaching for the January 14 phone caused Silby to take her eyes off
the road, and that's when she hit Rose.


Silby says she tried to do the
right thing by calling police when she
realized she may have hit Rose.


A judge ruled that taking your
eyes off the road does not constitute
reckless driving.


He chose an *improper* driving
conviction with a fine of 500 dollars.


Rose's godmother, Catrena, says
she now wants an apology from Silby.

broke the law again this year by
selling illegal fireworks...Last year
the same businesses recieved a
25-hundred dollar fine for the same
violation.


Police also say one of the owners
was making homemade bombs.

Redwood community of Franklin County on
Monday along with illegal fireworks.


Authorities say the man owns

superintendant has resigned from his
most recent job in North Carolina...

Jim McCormick -- embroiled in an
unspecified misconduct controversy,
submitted his letter of resignation to
the Lee County school board on Monday.


The resignation caught many board
members by surprise.


McCormick recently signed a three
year contract extension.


He'd been with the Lee County
school system since 2004.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission
had cited Areva for shipping equipment
that contained a radioactive "hot
spot" or particle that exceeded
regulatory limits.


The N-R-C ultimately concluded
that the particle did not pose a threat
to the public or the environment.


But FUTURE violations could land
the company fines.
