(END SOT) Home at last, after more than 5-years

as hostages.

Three American men are reuniting with
their families -- after arriving in
Texas late last night.

(NAT)

The government contractors were flown
to a military hospital for a round of
tests after their ordeal, which began
in 2003.

Marc Gonsalves, Thomas Howes, and Keith
Stansell were captured when their drug

surveillance plane crashed in an area
held by FARC -- a marxist rebel group
fighting a decades-long war against the
Colombian Government. After 5-years in
captivity... It took just 22-minutes
for Colombian forces to free them

(SOT / MIKE GONSALVES / HOSTAGE'S

BROTHER) - "IT'S BEEN HARD, YOU KNOW,
YOU JUST WAIT AND YOU WAIT FOR NEWS AND
YOU WAIT FOR A DAY LIKE YESTERDAY AND
TODAY YOU KNOW?"

U-S Intelligence helped locate the
hostages. Then, using unmarked
helicopters -- the Colombian military
flew in and tricked the captors into
putting the hostages on board. Not a
single shot was fired.

(STANDUP BRIDGE: Susan Roberts / CBS
NEWS / THE WHITE HOUSE) - "A short time
after the rescue mission -- President
Bush called Colombian President Uribe
to congratulate him -- calling him,
quote -- a strong leader."

(SOT: PRESIDENT BUSH) - "I TOLD HIM

WHAT A JOYOUS OCCASION IT MUST BE TO

KNOW THAT THE PLAN HAD WORKED."

Also freed... A dozen others, including
former Colombian Presidential candidate
Ingrid Betancourt who was captured
while campaigning. On Thursday morning
she was reunited with her children for
the first time in 6 years.

For the families of the Americans --
this years-long ordeal is coming to an
end... And they hope to have their
loved ones home in time for the Fourth
of July.

<< Good evening, I'm meteorologist
Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. Thursday night, look for
partly cloudy skies with lows in the
lower 60s. It won't be as comfortable
tonight as the last several nights due
to increasing moisture in the air. On
the weather maps, we've been noticing a
slow moving cold front to our northwest

for several days. Right now, the front
is in the Ohio River Valley creating
showers and storms near Columbus and
Cincinnati. This boundary will move
toward us over the next three days,
increasing rain and thunderstorm
chances across the NEWS7 viewing area.
Friday, skies will be partly sunny. Our
high-definition 4km forecast model
indicates only a slight chance of a
shower or storm on July 4th. Let it be
noted, any storm that may form could be
severe. Highs Friday are forecast in
the upper 80s with a southwest breeze.
Mostly cloudy skies with scattered
showers and isolated storms are in the
outlook for late Friday night. Right
now, it looks like most firework
displays across the region should be
rain-free, with most activity Friday
night holding off until around
midnight. Lows in the muggy mid 60s.
The weekend will average about a 50%
chance of showers and storms with
otherwise mostly cloudy skies thanks to
the front meandering across the region.
This doesn't mean it's going to rain
all the time, but it certainly means to
watch the sky, and to be prepared to

duck indoors if storms fire. Highs are
forecast in the lower 80s this weekend
thanks to more cloudiness, but it's
still going to remain rather humid.
Early next week calls for variably
cloudy skies and a 30% chance of
showers and storms with highs in the
mid to upper 80s. For weather anytime

Vineyard Park The soccer players will fly out
of Washington this Saturday on their
way to Stocklhom, Sweden for the
Dalecarlia Cup.

While there - the club will not
only be flying the colors of the Stars
but also of this nation as they are the

only team from the United States

The team will also play in
Gothenberg for the Gothia Cup - in what
many call the world's best youth
tournament.

Players and coaches both know it
will be a battle to hang with the stiff
competition from Europe.

afternoon on his 700 mile bike ride.

He will be visiting a number of
community colleges.

Dubois hopes to raise awareness
of the obstacles teens in foster care
