hit Omarion.

(END SOT) nightmare for his stepdaughter Kaylie
Silby.
"Obviously, she's depressed.
She's withdrawn. She has a hard time
looking at her own son without breaking
down."
Murphy says Kaylie is still too
shaken to talk about the case, but he's
reaching out to the Rose family with an
apology from Kaylie herself.
"No one could ever fill the void
of a lost child and we understand that,
but our condolences and prayers are
going out to the family."
A lot has changed for Silby since
the morning of the accident. In court,
she says she used to drive up Seminole
drive all the time. Today, Murphy says
she never drives anywhere.
"She really doesn't go out in
public. She's really, like I said,
been withdrawn, and really stayed at
home."
Stayed at home, because he says
the public eye is too much.
Murphy says many judged Kaylie
before her case ever went to trial.
"People, for some reason, have it
in their mind that Kay is driving down
the road, running down toddlers, which
is obviously not the case. No one
would ever hit a child and knowingly
leave him on the side of the road."
He says Kaylie called State
Police just hours after the accident -
as soon as she realized her car may
have been the one that hit Rose.
"By 2:30, 3:00 that same
afternoon, her car was on the way to
Richmond to be tested."
Regardless of how it happened,
Murphy says Silby is living with
regret.
"Regardless of what people think,
she's not a cold blooded murderer."
"More than anything, she is sorry
the incident occurred. She is
definitely sorry for the loss of
Omarion."
And wants to put the accident
behind her.

Commonwealth's attorney to discuss the
case involving a drug store owner who
shot and killed a would be robber.
Tonight, Corey Ramsey's family is
speaking out.

VO-NAT Last Tuesday, Ramsey entered the
Sanco Drug Store in southeast Roanoke
with the intent to rob it.
When it was all over, Ramsey was
dead and the store clerk was injured.
As News 7's Justin McLeod

store owner went too far and should be
punished for it.

much like Monday, any storms will be
slow-movers with heavy downpours, small
hail and strong winds. Flash flooding
is possible in some of these

Dale Earnhardt, Inc.- has also had
quite a day.
For starters an internet report
today on the Sporting News website
clamied that the compleny the late Dale
Earnhardt founded was for sale.

owner Teresa Earnhardt had commissioned
the investment banking firm of Bear,
Stearns & Co. Inc. to locate a buyer or
financial investment partner for the
racing giant.
But DEI president Max Siegel on
shot down the report today saying DEI

doubt that the new trend in NASCAR -
especially in these economic times - is
to collaborate with outside investment
partners to sure up one's finances.

Evernham to Petty Enterprises has
bought into this new way of racing

that driver Martin Truex is in jeopardy
of making the Chase for the
Championship after NASCAR docked him
150 points for cheating at Daytona last
week.

Truex's car failed its initial
inspection last week at Daytona, and
was confiscated.
Truex was 14th in the driver
standings, just 88 points out of 12th,
with eight races remaining until the
12-driver field is set for the Chase
For the Championship, now he is 18th in
the standings and 238 points back with
almost no chance of making up the
difference.
In addition to taking away
the points, crew chief Kevin Manion and
car chief Gary
Putnam were suspended from the next six
races and placed on probation until the
end of the year.
Manion was also fined $100,000.
The circuit rolls into Chicago
later this week with qualifying set for
Thursday night.

Valley thanks in large part to the
success of Roanoke College and its head
coach Bill Pilat.
But this week it's not the
locals who are taking up space at
Pilats' annual Goalie Camp on the
college's campus in Salem.

VO-NAT 125 goaltenders from all
over the country have set up shop on
the field turf at Donald J. Kerr
Stadium.
This is the 18th year for the
camp and as usual, it's at full
capacity, with youngsters trying to
better their skills between the pipes.
And it is a melting pot
this week, with aspiring goalies from
as far away as Oregon, California,
Idaho, and even Canada.

For decades- this steam
locomotive has sat in a scrap yard off
of Jefferson Street.
Two cranes were brought in and
put on each side of the 175-thousand
pound train.
Eventually, the engine was
raised, pivoted and placed on a
trailer.
Even though things didn't really
progress until after lunch- people
gathered at the scrap yard and along
the Jefferson Street bridge from the
mid-morning to get a better view.
