There was one in Roanoke... at the
Civic Center.

But it wasn't offered to you or me.

It was given to a relative of a top
city leader. That has raised a few
questions.

News 7's Justin McLeod has spent

months investigating this. He's at the
Roanoke Civic Center tonight to shed
some light on this. Justin, what did
you learn?

Keith and Jean, this has prompted an

City documents are shedding plenty of
light on this issue.

This is a picture of the shed. As
you can see it's larger than a normal
structure.

It was built here in the Roanoke
Civic Center parking lot during
construction of the city's new special
events center.

In early 2007, the city says it tried
to sell the shed but didn't have much
luck so the 54-thousand dollars shed
was given, for free, to the father of
the city's purchasing manger.

OQ=CONFLICT OF INTEREST City leaders believe they followed

proper procedure.

The shed was first offered to the
school system and the Public Works
department but both declined to take it
because it would have been too
expensive to remove it.

The city says an ad was then placed

in the Roanoke Times but there's no
documentation or invoice.

A big "for sale" sign was then put on
the shed and inquiries came rolling in.

City documents reveal two pages full
of names and phone numbers of people
who showed interest in buying the shed.

city's purchasing manager Sharon Gentry

the permit.

VO-NAT Miller Baber is a three time

winner, hoping to grab another title,
after being beaten by Floyd native and
Radford University golfer Michael Wade
in last year's final at Hidden Valley
Country Club.

This year's tournament trophy has
been renamed the George May Loving Cup
in honor of the one time tournament
chair, who passed away suddenly this
past spring. May's support of junior
and amateur golf in the Valley reached
far and wide.
