access to a future Roanoke Region
Intermodal facility and additional

valley to Ohio.

station improvements to allow more
frequent Amtrak service to Lynchburg

Steve and Barry would pay in rent over
the life of the lease.
The stores opened in Roanoke and
Lynchburg in the Fall of 2006.

out what caused a 70-year-old man from
Richmond to crash his car in Bath
County.
It happened on Route 39 shortly
after six o'clock yesterday.
Police say Carlos Mendell DeBrill
the Second was headed East, when he ran

tree.
He was pronounced dead at the

the department has been using.
The new truck will hold an extra

four times as much water.

barely recognize what's left of the
tanker.
Before it fell down the hill it
broke through about 600 feet of
guardrail.
V-DOT says this accident was the
first crash in at least five years
where someone has died.
But, there have been 14 accidents
since 2003 where serious damage was
involved or someone was hurt.
Still, the Department of
Transportation says 15 accidents is not
a lot when you consider 63 thousand
people travel this stretch every day.
As of now there are no plans to
do any road improvements.
The speed limit will stay at 55.

big was 30 years ago.

July 30, 1977 wrecked while turning from Orange
Avenue onto the ramp going up to
Interstate 581.
The driver of the truck escaped
with burns. No one else was hurt.
Special fire-fighting trucks from
the airport were called in to help
smother the flames.

Investigators say the young woman
found skeletal remains near Route 29
and Coleman Road in Amherst County.

human.

the next five years in prison.
Robert Andrew Lawson lived at

have to grab with your toes to keep the
shoe on your foot lifting your foot off
the ground your taking your next step
The second thing is7 you should have a
natural bend where the ball of the foot

bend the shoe but you shouldn't be able
to bend the shoe like this and you
shouldn't be able to wring it out like
a washcloth

Jean: This is a better option?
Absolutely it has a heel cup around the
heel to help stablize your heel your
heel is supposed to be the the first
thing that hits the floor and you want
your heel to be stablized and this one
has a cork arch to it to help cradel
your foot and you have the bend in the
right places bend at the ball of your
foot but you can not wring this one out
like a washcloth and you can not fol it
in half like a flip flop
Jean: okay so if i can bend this we
don't want this. Dr. Feeny: That's a no
no absolutely
Jean: Why it's showing it's not
supportive? not firm enough? Dr. Feeny:
It's not firm enough it doesn't
provide adequate support-
um pause and it does't have
not enough shock absortption when
you're walking or hitting th ground.
Jean: not much too it?
Jean: good for the beach?
Dr. Feeny: good for the beach or
walking out to the pool or the locker
room Jean: walking out to the pool from
the locker room
and tha'ts what they were originally
designed for. Dr. Feeny: yes.
Jean: They feel so comfortable though
they feel so comfortable?
Dr. Feeny. They are for short periods
of time but they're comfortable for
what they're intended use was but
they're not going to be comfrogable if
you wear them all day everyday

was released by the Virginia Department
of Rail and Public Transportation last
night.
It includes money to improve
access to a future Roanoke Region
Intermodal facility and additional
tunnel clearances....
That will allow trains to carry
double- stacked containers through the
valley to Ohio.
There's also money for rail and
station improvements to allow more
frequent Amtrak service to Lynchburg
and expanded service to Roanoke and
Bristol.

General Motors is running out of both
time AND money.
Today the automaker - facing enormous
losses after slumping sales - will
announce a major re-structuring that
could cut thousands of jobs.

STARING INTO THE ABYSS AT THIS POINT
AND THERE'S NO GUARANTEE IT' WILL
SURVIVE."
G-M turns 100 this year and is in its
worst shape ever. They lost almost
40-billion-dollars LAST year and THIS
year sales are down more than
16-percent.
It's stock was worth 40-dollars in
October - this morning it opens at
9-dollars-and-38-cents, a 54 year-low.

Like many others, G-M bet big on big
trucks, and it paid off for several
years.
But as oil prices sky-rocketed and gas
followed suit, all of a sudden those
mammoth SUVs became a LOT less
appealing.
It's a trend Detroit has little choice
but to embrace. G-M's already in the
process of scaling back on trucks and
focusing more on fuel-efficient
vehicles, but that's not a change that
happens overnight.

out what caused a 70-year-old man from
Richmond to crash his car in Bath
County.
It happened on Route 39 shortly
after six o'clock yesterday.
Police say Carlos Mendell DeBrill
the Second was headed East, when he ran
off the right side of the road,
overcorrected, and eventually hit a
tree.
He was pronounced dead at the
scene.

Officers have identified
the wounded man as 31-year-old Avery
Eugene Muse.
