officer.
This started as a police chase
in Roanoke County and ended about a
half-hour ago in a crash in Roanoke
City.

truck driver Farrell Kantsos, Jr. will
be held Friday.

VO-NAT The Lexington News-Gazette
published an obituary for Kantsos in
its online edition today.
The service will be held at 1:00
p.m. Friday in the Stuarts Draft Chapel
of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
State Police say the
24-year-old Kantsos died at the scene
of a fiery tanker truck crash in
Roanoke Saturday night.
Since the crash, a memorial
was set up outside the WilcoHess gas
station in Raphine.
People have been coming by and
leaving flowers around his motorcycle
that is still parked there. Kantsos
worked for the company and lived in
Fairfield in Rockbridge County.

GRAPHIC=Train Accident Roanoke police have identified a
man hit by a train in Roanoke.
63 year old Loyd Patrick Martin
was found underneath the train near
Shenandoah Avenue Tuesday night.

the same one Norfolk Southern uses to
teach people about rail safety....
The Operation Lifesaver train was
pulling into Roanoke for an educational
trip to Lynchburg when the man was hit.
5 people were killed and another
17 injured along Virginia tracks in

Roanoke County crews had to
respond to this home on Woodvale Drive
in Roanoke County shortly after nine
last night.
Firefighters say someone was
working on a 19-84 Mercedes, when it
somehow caught on fire.
The flames spread to the carport,
and then to the house.
The blaze was so intense, that it
melted the vinyl siding on a neighbors
house about 40 feet away.
No one was injured in the fire.

the wildfire that destroyed dozens of
homes around the town of Paradise last

Authorities are now offering a 10-

Another breaking story...
Roanoke City Police are trying to talk
an armed woman out of a church.
Police say a member of Mount
Moriah Church found a woman inside the
building this morning. The woman was
armed with knives.
The church member called
9-1-1 and officers have been trying to
talk the suspect out of the building,
which is located off Orange Avenue,
Northeast.

humidity on the increase as the week
progresses. We stay partly to mostly
sunny and seasonably warm until the end
of the week, when a retrograding low
moving from Florida into the Tennessee
valley will offer a 20% chance of
storms from Friday through the weekend.
While it won't be a washout, you may
have to dodge a few showers during your
weekend activities. The lingering low
will be intercepted by a cold front
early next week. This will give us us
an improving forecast Monday, with

Mount Moriah Baptist Church is over.
Roanoke City police have taken
the woman into custody. A church
member found her inside armed with
knives.
A spokeswoman says the
suspect will be taken to a hospital for
a mental evaluation.
Again, an armed woman found
inside a Roanoke chuch is in custody
and no one has been injured.

Wisconsin man is linked to not one, but
two crimes.

46-year-old Edward Lanphear is
accused of holding two young men
captive in his home and sexually
assaulting them.
Now police believe Lanphear could
also be connected to the unsolved
murder of a college student.
Court records show investigators
found a newspaper clipping about slain
University of Wisconsin-Madison student
Brittany Zimmermann in Lanphear's home.
Zimmermann was killed in her off-
campus apartment in early April.

leagues on a re-hab assignment, a place
he didn't spend much time on his way to
the big leagues after college, which is
the way he likes it as would most
everyone else not in the Majors

orgainization, has become the face of
the franchise, whether he likes it or
not.
