Standing in front of the house

Artemus Dixon/Churches United for
Service: "This is our community and we
need to begin to take it back."

Artemus Dixon is part of a group
that's been going door to door around
the city, trying to prevent violence
like what happened to Moore.

Dixon: "Everyone needs to get
involved. Not just one group here, one
group there, but all of us need to come
together."

Dixon says one way that can
happen is through neighborhood watch
programs.

This area's had a neighborhood
watch for years - but members say they
need more people to participate.

Michelle Jackson/College Hill
Neighborhood Council: "I think that's
one of the things I find joy in.
Getting out, mingling, knowing the
people that I live around."

Jackson says her group is about
more than just reporting crimes.

They're working to help neighbors
earn their G-E-D, and learn skills that

can help them land a job.

Jackson: "It's about education,
love, and support of our families."

That support is something
Kymberlee and her grandmother say will
help change minds.

Virginia Jones/Kymberlee Moore's
Grandmother: "People will think before
they do anything. Before they pull
that gun out to shoot it."

Kymberlee Moore/Shooting Victim:
"I think this will probably make a
difference in people, to think twice
