The storm crashed ashore near Galveston
Tuesday morning dumping heavy rain and

While the rains and high tide

to some flooding, it was wasn't as
bad as officials first feared.

Edouard drenched tourists visiting

during the height of the summer

Things were worse in Louisiana. Those
in some low-lying areas were ordered

to evacuate, wind tore a handful of

knocked down,

But in Galveston--

nryan@wdbj7.com Wildlife experts call the
discovery "astonishing."

CHANNEL=A VO-NAT

VO-NAT Researchers say they've found

125-thousand Western lowland gorillas,
living in swamplands in the Republic of

Congo.

The last census of the critically
endangered species estimated there were
just 100-thousand worldwide.

Teams from the Wildlife
Conservation Society acted on a tip
from Congolese hunters, and trekked
days on foot to a remote nature
reserve.

They spotted some gorillas there,
but based their estimate of
125-thousand from a number of gorilla
nests at the site.

Researchers say it's the
highest-known density of gorillas ever
found.
