with sustained winds of 65 miles per
hour.
So far it appears Galveston and
parts of southwest Louisiaina weathered
the storm, but forecasters are now
worried about flooding as it creeps
inland.

Edouard never quite reached hurricane
strength.... crashing ashore this
morning east of Galveston as a Tropical
Storm with 65 mile per hour winds and
heavy rain.

Eduoard is already causing some
flooding in parts of galveston.
Forecasters
expect the storm to weaken over land
... But if it slows ... It could
trigger
flash flooding as far west as houston.

up to 10 inches of rain is predicted
for some parts of texas.
so far, property damage appears
minimal .. and that's welcome news for
this
tourist town.

Coastal Louisiana also got a taste of
edouard. thousands of residents cleared
out of low lying areas yesterday..
but the only real damage at this point
is some downed power lines and minor
flooding.

That was not the case just two weeks
ago when hurricane dolly punished the
texas coast. south padre island was hit
with 100 mile an hour winds, knocking
out power for thousands.

And while Edouard did not pack the same
punch...it did interrupt tourist
season at a time when every day and
every dollar is crucial.

12 employees and three
customers got out safely when the fire
started around 7:45.

Interstate 81 was sentenced in a
Roanoke federal court yesterday.
Pedro Antonio Mateo will spend 21
months in federal prison.
Several immigrants were
discovered by a Virginia State Police
trooper during a traffic stop in
Botetourt County back in April.
U-S District Judge Glen Conrad
added two years of supervised release
to Mateo's prison term.

to repair some of the damage caused in
his automobile accident.
He was hurt Sunday when his car
went off the road and flipped in
Mississippi.
Freeman has a broken arm and a
broken elbow as well as minor shoulder
damage.

Bernie Mac .
According to his publicist the
50-year-old actor has pneumonia but is
responding well to treatment and should
be released soon.
Mac has suffered from an
inflammatory lung disease since 2005,

This is Carl DeHart's D-heart's
brand new 1937 Ford Coupe.
The Roanoke man was at the annual
Street Rod Nationals in Louisville,
Kentucky this weekend when he entered a
raffle and won the car.
DeHart's friends tell News7 - two
other numbers were called before his,
but those people weren't there to
claim their prize.
But, the third try was a charm
for the hot rod enthusiast.
Friends and family were on-hand
as he debuted his new ride..

cover when severe thunderstorms rolled
through the Windy City.

the game to come to a screeching halt.
Fans tried to stay dry by running
under the grandstand or into the
concourse, which ended up being flooded
by a few inches of water.
