River yesterday.

Office says Samuel Matthew Harless was
fishing with a friend near the railroad
trestle over Hazel Hollow Road.
Harless was wading in the
river, went under and never came back
up.
Harless was 23, from

that's according to a Virginia State
Police report released today.

May 9 Smith died in May while being

was accused of shooting two people near
the Appalachian Trail in the Jefferson
National Forest.
He wrecked a stolen truck while
leaving the scene of the crime.
The medical examiner determined
Smith died as a result of complications
from injuries in that wreck.
Smith killed two hikers in the
same area in the 1980s.

Rockbridge County.
At least 11 of those infected
with e-coli ate contaminated hamburger.
The ground beef came from a
company in California, and it's being
recalled all over the country.

They are still waiting for more

interviews to find that answer..
Meanwhile the number of sick
keeps growing.
As of this afternoon, 84 people
were reporting symptoms...and 25 of
them had confirmed e-coli infection.

the man who was found dead in a Roanoke
neighborhood yesterday,
But they still don't know how he
died.

of trees located beside the offices of
the Episcopal Diocese (DY-uh-sis) of
Southwestern Virginia.
Neighbors said they had seen two
homeless men living in the area.
Police now know the man's name,

information at the request of his
family. Investigators are still
waiting for the results of an autopsy.

license has been revoked for allegedly
taking money from clients and forging
documents.
According to a news release
from the state bar association, Gerard
Raymond Marks admitted he forged the
signatures of judges, took money for
work he never did and issued a
settlement check when no settlement had
actually occurred.
Marks still faces 21 criminal
charges in Montgomery County and is
scheduled to go to trial next month.

with grant money and then relocate the
hall of fame there.

An outdoor concert series is
bringing some big names to Bedford
County.
Seven major acts will perform
over the next month.
News 7's Tim Saunders shows us
it's just a taste of what could be
coming to a new regional amphitheater.

this field for the first ever Mariner's
Landing Summer Concert Series at Smith
Mountain Lake.
Not even a little rain is slowing
them down.
Holly Sweet: "Let's go ahead and
get that out of the way! The guys are
actually pretty happy about it, it's
cooling them off quite a bit."
Holly Sweet and her husband
Darrin Snyder are local natives who
spent the last 15 years in Nashville.
Sweet: "It's combining our
hometown with our hometown in
Nashville. Smith Mountain Lake and an
outdoor concert venue go hand-in-hand."
Sara Evans will be here Friday.
Acts like Lonestar and TobyMac
will follow in the coming weeks.
Sweet: "It is a festival setup,
so we do want people to remember to
bring their lawn chairs, bring their
blankets, the stars are supposed to be
out, the weather's supposed to be
great, so I think it's going to be
terrific."
The summer concert series is just
a preview of what you'll see at the
Sweetwater Amphitheater. It's slated
to go up on this site off Route 122 and
Sweet says it will offer a lot more
than what you'll see this summer.
Sweet: "Because that site was not
going to be ready this year, we wanted
to at least show the area what we are
looking to achieve with Sweetwater
Amphitheater."
Sweetwater will be a permanent
venue with shows running from April to
October.
For now though, the focus is on
Friday and getting 7-thousand people
down the narrow roads leading to the
concert site.
Sweet: "We're going to have VDOT,
State Police, and the Bedford County
Sheriff's Office on site managing
traffic, so we're going to make sure
that's very orderly."
A good test run for the crowds
they'll see when the amphitheater's
finished.
