Now- the former democratic
presidential candidate has admitted he
had an extramarital affair during his
campaign for the White House.
The former senator says
published reports are true, though he
denies he had a child with his
mistress.

The former senator also confirms he
secretly met with Hunter and her baby

this Beverly Hills hotel last month .
Edwards says he's not the child's
father.

County drowned at Smith Mountain Lake.

VO-NAT Marvin Strickland, Junior, of
Gretna went underwater around 2:30
yesterday.

another child find a floating device.
Park officials believe Strickland
didn't know how to swim.
He was missing for about 15
minutes before someone alerted park
officials.
Searchers found him unconscious
in the water, he later died at Bedford
Memorial Hospital.

with his youth group at Sycamore
Baptist Church.
Today, his youth director is
remembering him for his deep devotion
to God.

This was the first drowning
accident at that beach.
Many families heard the news when
they got to the beach today.
The incident put parents on high
alert, keeping a closer eye on their
kids, especially those that don't know
how to swim.
Little ones wore lifevests or
some other floatation device.
Some of the older kids kept
watch.
Instead of sitting and relaxing,
many parents decided to spend more time
in the water with their children.
Parents say the drowning reminds
them how quickly a child can be in
danger.

Blankenship pleaded guilty to a charge
of misdemeanor hit-and-run in Powhatan
County.
Blankenship was fined
200-dollars and ordered to pay
restitution.

That's the word from Roanoke
Police.

killed in a car fire in Bedford last
month...

Police say she drove into a field
off Ole Turnpike Road.
When the engine hit dry grass,
the Chevy Malibu she was in caught
fire.
Police say Woods was staying with

Investigators are still waiting
for a toxicology report, but say Woods'
died of smoke inhalation.

say Sunday night is the deadline for
contract talks.
They say a strike is possible
next week.
The old contract expired last
weekend.
The unions say progress in the
talks has been "slow" on important
issues like job security and health

and light winds will mean another night
of lows in the 50s. Could see a bit of
patchy fog in the NRV and Highlands,
but shouldn't be widespread. SATURDAY:
An area of high pressure will move from
Missouri and Iowa, east into across the
area. This will lead to another day of
clear skies, low humidity and coolish
temperatures. Highs will end up in the
mid 80s by the afternoon. SUNDAY: A
front will try to work into the region
with limited impact. Only an isolated
shower can be expected in the NW
mountains Sunday. Otherwise, another
day of sunshine and highs in the low
80s. NEXT WEEK: Generally, the forecast
remains dry with limited rain chances
and below normal temperatures. Highs
will remain in the low 80s through
Wednesday, then climb into the upper

preseason favorite.
