in the war with Iraq.

The Department of Defense says
Sargeant Kenneth B. Gibson died
Saturday when an improvised bomb
exploded near his position.
He was 25-years-old, and based
out of Schoolfield Barracks in Hawaii.

after a man was shot during a robbery
in Danville this morning.
They say around 11 o' clock last
night, a man went into the Fast Mart on
Piney Forest Road with a gun and
demanded money from the clerk.
A fight ensued between the robber
and the clerk's relative, then the
suspect shot the relative.
Police say the bullet went
through his left arm and into his back,
but he should be okay.
The suspect took off on foot with
some money from the register.

GRAPHIC=PETSMART "LAWSUIT" The owner of a Yorkie says his
pet almost died after being groomed at
a Petsmart in Christiansburg.
Jeff Dalton is now suing the
store.
He tells News 7 his dog appeared
lifeless, struggled to breathe and spit
up blood when he picked it up from an
appointment in January.
The dog was taken to a
veterinarian and had to have surgery to
survive.
Dalton is seeking 175-thousand
dollars in damages.
A corporate spokesman for
Petsmart said the company does not
comment on pending litigation.

to cut 600 more jobs than it
previously expected.
It's working to cut expenses from
major losses tied to mortgage debt.
The bank says it now expects to
eliminate a total 11-thousand- 350
positions.
According to Wachovia, most of
the cuts will come from the mortgage
area.

They're riding across country to
raise money and awareness for people
with disabilities.

the Gainsboro redevelopment plan.
Officials say they need
more time to think about the situation.

VO-NAT Rick Warren spoke to a crowd of
several thousand people last night.
The timing of the visit couldn't
be any better.
Warren is on the cover of this
week's Time magazine.
And this weekend he will host a
debate between the two presidential
candidates.
Warren joked, he now has a target
on his back after being in Time.
He also told the crowd he would
never want to run for the White House,
because he believes his current role
has more of a purpose.

County after travling the country-- but

fraternity are cycling in the Journey
of Hope.
They're riding across country to
raise money and awareness for people
with disabilities.

Each rider commits to raising at
least 5-thousand dollars.
This year's team hopes to raise a
half million dollars.
The journey ends this weekend in
Washington, D.C.
