The blaze broke out at the Aquaculture Center at about four yesterday morning, causing about 20-thousand dollars in damage.

A team of experts from the University of Virginia has been asked to investigate a prison dialysis unit at the Greensville Correctional center.

Some experts say the number of deaths at the facility is above normal, but could simply be coincidence.
However, the figure is large enough to ask for an investigation.

The maximum-security Red Onion Prison will have its groundbreaking tomorrow at the site on the Wise-Dickenson county line.
On the other end of Wise County, the Wallens Ridge Prison will have its ceremonies the week of October 16th.
The 72-MILLION dollar Red Onion facility alone is expected to provide several hundred jobs.
Local officials say the groundbreaking will show that more state facilities -- NOT necessarily prisons -- should be located in southwest Virginia where jobs are needed.
The region has a high rate of unemployment.

``A Washington Post'' story cites unnamed federal officials as saying that the twin-engine Queen Air 6-5 had a door IMPROPERLY removed, and was 150 pounds OVERweight when it took off.

Rose says the plane was NOT carrying more than its maximum weight.

His mother says he took his own life because living with schizophrenia was too much for him.
But Mildred Willis says Daniel's story might have been different if there had been some sort of half way house to help him make the transition from the hospital to the real world. In 1976, the Bagley Commission de-institutionalized mental patients.
Mildred Will says this would have been a great idea had some funding been set aside to help communities meet the housing needs of people with mental illness.
She says at least one third of the homeless population suffers from some type of mental illness.
Newell Falkinburg is running for the state house of delegates.
He calls funding for housing for the mentally ill an investment. Lynchburg and Amherst, along with Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell counties join other Virginia localities experimenting with welfare reform.
The initiative requires able-bodied welfare recipients to work in exchange for their benefits.
