The Roanoke Express is in training camp in Hillsborough, North Carolina this week.
And Roy Stanley says by the time camp breaks, area fans may see a team that is built for speed.

(( Twenty-five players, five over the east coast hockey leagues 20 players roster limit, are participating in the Express training camp. Jeff Jestadt the franchise leader in goals, has a a solid group of medals in camp, and the rookies in camp have also been impressive, especially their speed.

THERE WERE A COUPLE OF AREAS THAT WE NEEDED TO IMPROVE IN AND THAT WAS SPEED OF COURSE, AND IN OUR PHYSICAL PLAY. HE GOT A LITTLE BIT OF BOTH. HE GOT SOME GUYS REALLY GOING AROUND OUT THERE YESTERDAY IN THE FIRST SCRIMMAGE GAME. ITS ENCOURAGING TO SEE, BECAUSE THERE ARE TEAMS LIKE RICHMOND AND CHARLOTTE THAT ARE NOTABLY FASTER THAN US, THAT'LL HELP

But whether or not that speed will be on the ice, when the Express opens this season is a big question. and the answer will come when head coach Frank Anzalone trims the roster to the east coast hockey league 20 man limit.
FRANK ANZALONE/EXPRESS HEAD COACH: THERE ARE SOME KIDS HERE THAT HAVE SOME GOOD SPEED, AND THE THING IS, YOU GOT TO TAKE SOME CHANCES. SOMETIMES THE KID LOOKS DESCENT AND SHOWS GREAT SIGNS AND LIKE I DID MY FIRST YEAR WITH JEFF JESTADT, YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO BANK ON THAT HE'S GOING TO GET BETTER. 'CAUSE NOT EVERY PLAYER LOOKS GREAT IN THE CAMP, BUT THEY SHOW SIGNS THAT THEY CAN BE. SO HOPEFULL I WILL MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS.

It looks like Wade Wilson will not only start for the Cowboys this week in place of injured Troy Aikman, but he will likely play the entire game against Green Bay.
Aikman's ailing calf is still to tender.
But with Wilson at the helm will the Cowboys attack be a bit more conservative.
