and staff members at a Lynchburg animal hospital who treated the cat.
State health officials say the eleven- year- old cat bit its owner last
month and was found to have rabies when it died last week.
All those who came into contact with the unvaccinated cat now have to
undergo a series of shots to prevent catching the fatal disease.
Another cat owned by the family also was not vaccinated and had to be put
to sleep.
State law requires all dogs and cats four months and older to have current
rabies vaccinations.
