southwest Arizona.
Authorities say the train jumped the tracks early this morning.
Details are still sketchy but one official says ten cars of the passenger
train are off the track.
There's no word yet on injuries or fatalities.

Medical helicopters are on their way to the scene of an Amtrak train
accident in Arizona.
Officials say the train derailed early this morning in the desert about 50
to 60 miles southwest of Phoenix.
An Amtrak spokesman says all 12 cars and two engines derailed.
He says two sleeper cars and a diner car reportedly tumbled into a ravine.
It's reported that one person is dead and there are several injuries, but
Amtrak could not confirm the report.
The train was bound for Los Angeles from Miami, carrying 248 people.

Police are still on the lookout for the man who abducted an 86- year- old
Roanoke woman.
The woman was taken from the lower level parking lot at Towers Mall in
Roanoke.
Police say she was walking to her car around 1:30 Saturday afternoon when a
man with a small caliber gun forced her onto the floor of her car then drove
away.
Police say the man stopped on Gults Mill Road in Amherst County, tied the
woman up and left her in the woods.
The woman freed herself and walked to safety.

Police are still looking for her car.
It's a '92 Oldsmobile, four door, Delta 88--
Dark red with red interior.
The license plate reads F-K-F-1-4-6.
Police say the driver is a black man age 35 to 40.
He has short black hair and a mustache and as mentioned, is armed.

increase over 19-93.

To mark the beginning of National Fire Prevention Week, firefighters
gathered in Lynchburg yesterday to remember some of their own colleagues who
were killed on the job.
They included Carter Martin, a Lynchburg firefighter who was a volunteer
with the Brookville- Timberlake fire company.
Martin was killed June 22nd when the Timber Lake Dam collapsed under heavy
rains.

Gingrich will address ``Super Conference '95,''a conference hosted by the
