He was charged with a FIVE- year- old murder from Pittsylvania County.

He is accused of killing 41- year old Paul Nathaniel Deshazor of Ringgold.
Police discovered Deshazor's car burning on September 7th, 1990-- near

Six days later, Deshazor's body was discovered nearby.
Authorities say he'd been shot several times.
Police are NOT elaborating on what led to the arrest.

A Richmond police officer has been CLEARED of criminal wrongdoing for
fatally shooting a man from Danville.
A grand jury made the decision yesterday.

Officer Jeffrey Miles shot 21- year- old Marco Loney August 24th after a
traffic stop.
Miles said he thought Loney was carrying a gun-- but NO weapon was found.

A special prosecutor for the case says Miles had GOOD reason to fear for
his life when he shot Loney.
Witnesses said Loney fled from police-- then reached into his waistband,
appearing to grab a gun.
Officer Miles STILL faces a police review of the incident.

The owner of a Roanoke dog grooming business has filed a 16- million dollar
lawsuit against one of his former employees and Roanoke television station
W-S-L-S.

abusing and killing his customers' pets.
She says she witnessed the abuse for two and a half years.
But Benson claims he was slandered.
His suit names Martin, Channel 10, and its reporter Kris Lloyd.
Benson opened Puppyland in 19-71.
He denies the accusations and says Martin is just a disgruntled employee.

The city already has federal grant money to buy vacant railroad property,
and convert other land into a series of bike trails.
Economic development officials say the city should be able to acquire the
necessary property by the end of the year.
They predict this will translate into big business opportunities just a few
blocks away.
Construction should begin by next spring.
