The body of 15-year old Lavina Scales was found on Route 679 yesterday.

The department says it is NOT involved in telephone solicitations of any kind.
But apparently some residents have received calls asking for money for the Terry Griffith Memorial Fund.
Griffith was shot while trying to apprehend a shoplifter last year.
Police urge residents to avoid donating money to people or organizations they aren't familiar with.

400 reserved seat tickets for UVa's showdown with number one ranked Florida State next Thursday night go on sale tomorrow morning at the UVa ticket office inside University hall.

The Roanoke Rush has been awarded a home game in the first round of the playoffs.
The Rush will play host to the Charlotte Blast at 7:30 on Saturday night November 4th at Victory stadium.
The Blast finished this season with a 9-and-1 record.
Tickets go on sale Monday at the Roanoke Civic Center.

60 former NFL greats have been nominated for membership in the pro football hall of fame this year.

Among the nominees are former Redskins coaches George Allen and Joe Gibbs.
Other former Redskins on the list are running back Larry Brown and center Len Hauss, both of whom starred under George Allen.
Dave Butz, Chris Hanburger and Mark Moseley are also on the list of nominees that will be pared down to 12 by the Hall's Board of selectors.
