Hundreds of passengers became trapped when the train caught fire in a tunnel.
Most of the victims died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
More than 250 people were injured.
Officials blame the fire on "outdated" Soviet equipment.

Federal investigators returned to the scene of last week's DEADLY train- school bus collision looking for more answers.
Investigators staged a re-enactment of the accident using the SAME train that hit the bus.
It's damage was still visible.
The re-enactment showed the train could NOT stop in time to avoid hitting the bus.
Officials suspect the bus was stuck on the crossing because of a timing problem with a traffic light.
Seven high school students were killed in the accident.

A two vehicle accident in Wytheville last night killed one person.
Police say 38-year old Salvidor Simon was driving in the Northbound lane of Petunia Road and Route 11 shortly after seven in the evening.
He apparantly crossed into the southbound lane and hit a car head-on.
Simon was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital.
Police say a 17-year old man was driving the other car, his injuries are not life-threatening.
The passengers in his car were treated and released.

Race car driver Kenny Minter of Martinsville and a veteran of the local tracks in the area, was killed yesterday afternoon during a modified race at the Mid-Atlantic 500 championships in Asheboro, North Carolina.
Officials of the Southern Modified Auto Racing teams said Minter died when his car touched another car and hit the wall.
He was 39.

36 year old Badger was one of 19 paratroopers shot by a sniper as they set out on a morning run on Friday.

The incident happened at a time when Kreutzer is reportedly under-going psychiatric evaluations by military doctors.

The new 911 system was put into effect in March and is not fully operational yet.
The enhanced system requires at least nine thousand address changes.
Officials say these changes should be complete and the system fully operational by mid summer.

Elizabeth Dole says she's taking a year off as head of the American Red Cross to help her husband Bob Dole seek the G-O-P presidential nomination.
In an interview with "U-S-A Today" she says she plans to reclaim her 200-thousand dollar a year job if her husband is elected president.
She would be the first, first lady to work full time outside the White House.

Virginia Senator John Warner is rolling the dice on a hot politial and social issue-- legalized gambling.
The Republican, who's up for re-election next year, is calling for a national study of gambling's social costs and its impact on crime.
Warner and Congressman Frank Wolf will talk about the issue at a news conference in Norfolk today.
Wolf sponsored House legislation for a national commission on gambling.
Warner says he will sign a Senate version of the gambling study commission bill.
