Jean, 16-year old Tommy Helms of the Bassett area has been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of 15-year old Lavina Scales.
And according to police testimony, this was not Helms' first serious offense.
Infact, they say he was on a major crime spree.

The study from St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York, suggests older people who are only moderately overweight might be dieting needlessly.
Still, critics caution the findings could be distorted-- because by age 70, many of the heaviest people may have already died.
