Up to 150 workers at the Volvo-GM Heavy Truck plant in Dublin will start the

VO-NAT
SUPER=03-Dublin/File Tape;
The layoff takes effect January third, when the plant will cut its
production to 64 trucks per day.
It currently produces 80 trucks per day.
The company blames the layoff on a sudden, industry- wide downturn in the
market.
Plant officials say Volvo's production has been at an all- time high for the
last two years.
But they say the economy slowed during the second quarter, and many
customers have withdrawn orders.
The market conditions will not effect the 200- million- dollar plant
