For the third time in two weeks Henry County authorities are investigating a
homicide.

Police say a man was fatally shot last night in front of his children.
When authorities arrived at this residence on Route 6-98 in Bassett they
found the body of 39- year- old Hubert Oaks.
Police say he had stopped by his estranged wife's home with his two
daughters to pick up some clothing when he apparently got into a fight with her
boyfriend.
Oaks was shot several times.
Phillip Green has been charged with second degree murder.

A Texas teenager could get up to 40 years in prison when she's sentenced
today for killing two small children she was babysitting.

Yesterday a San Antonio jury found 13- year- old Victoria Dalton guilty of
capital murder in the deaths of a two- year old girl and a five-month old baby
boy.
Dalton admitted suffocating the children but claimed it was an accident.
She said she put her hands over the children's mouths and noses because they
were fussy.

Mechanic and part-time gun dealer Paul David Peterson expected to go to
prison today.
But he walked out of federal court this morning with a probationary
sentence.
He'll have to spend four months under "house arrest."

powerful typhoon slammed into the Philippines.

criticized for their elaborate Christmas display.

The Osborne family lost a lawsuit filed by neighbors who complained their
two million light display created a nuisance every holiday season.
Folks at Disneyworld say they would LOVE to have the lights, so the family
decided to loan them to the Florida park.
They will be used to decorate the residential street backlot at
the Disney M-G-M Studios.
The lights go on November 24th.

((The Cavaliers brought out the heavy ammunition for the second rank seminoles
honoring UVa Hall of Famers Henry Jordan and "Bullet" Bill Dudley. But UVa
truned it over on its second possession of the game on a Tiki Barber fumble.
Three plays later, Danny Canell hits Phillip Riley over th emiddle for a 35
yard scoring play and the Noles led 7-0. But Barder made up for the mistake on
the next possession, taking the hand-off on the option playand out running the
defense for a 64 yard scoring play and the score was tied at 7 in the first
quarter. Virginia move d the ball into Seminole territory, but this Groh pass
was tipped into the air and picked off at UVa 10 yard line. Several plays
later, Canell froze this short pass to Warrick Dunn. He jukes his way into the
endzone and Florida State led 14 to 7 after the first quarter. The Cavaliers
didn't back down- they move the ball downfield, capping the drive when Groh hit
Barber from two yards out to tie it at 14. A field goal made it 17 to 14, Cavs,
but Groh went up top again. This time, he hits Demitrius Allen he takes it in
from 72 yards out and UVa led 24 to 14. Florida State capped a long srive when
Canell hooked up with E.G. Green over the middle for the 31 yard TD pass play,
but UVa led 27 to 21 at the half.

The UVa defense and two Rafael Garcia field goals appeared to put the game
out of Florida's reach, but just like against Michigan and Texas, the Cavs
would have to withstand a last second assault. With Uva on top 33 to 28, and
just 3 seconds left to play, Florida Stae had the ball on the UVa 7. The
Seminoles stayed on the ground. Dunn cuts to the right and dives to the
endzone, but the Cavalier defensive stops him six inches short of the goal line
and UVa wins it 33 to 28.

California is home to some most unusual felines.

They're called "Fishing Cats" and thanks to two adult cats brought to the
Sacramento Zoo last spring, there are now kittens to help multiply this rare
breed.
These cats actually go into the water to chase fish with their webbed paws.
The American Zoo and Aquatic Association says there are very few of the
Asian breed in the United States.
