Israel is a nation in mourning.
Its slain leader, Yitzhak Rabin, was laid to rest today in Jerusalem.
His funeral brought dignitaries from all over the world including President
Clinton.
Speaking at the funeral Clinton urged the world to carry on Rabin's quest
for peace.
The 73- year- old leader was gunned down Saturday following a peace rally in
Tel Aviv.
His accused assassin told an Israeli Court today that he killed Rabin
because Rabin wanted to give his country to the Arabs.

(( The sirens wailed, mourners stood, a nation came to a standstill, as
Israelis wept for a native son, a straight-forward soldier turned peacemaking
statesman.
Leaders from the world over mourned a fighter, who came to believe his
country's future required compromise with former enemies... and who paid with
his life for that belief.
President Clinton's eulogy was almost a pep talk, encouraging Israelis to
complete what Rabin began, and to heal their wounds.
TAKE IT FROM US: WE LOST LINCOLN, KENNEDY AND MARTIN LUTHER KING. DON'T
LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU.
Rabin's mourners included Arab leaders who have never before set foot in
the Jewish state, who came as a show of support for Rabin's determination to
make peace.
KING HUSSEIN OF JORDAN: PEOPLE WHO WERE ONCE YOUR ENEMIES ARE SOMBER
TODAY.
And there was a searing momento. A sheet of lyrics from Rabin's breast
pocket, pierced by a bullet, and smeared with blood. A song for peace Rabin
had joined in singing a large peace rally just before he was gunned down.
After the speeches, the last march, the final salute the last graveside
goodbyes and Rabin was lowered to his final place of rest. The first time in
thousands of years of history, people here are saying, a Jewish leader slain by
a fellow Jew.))

Rabbi Fox joins us now to talk about how members of his congregation are
dealing with Rabin's untimely death.
What is the reaction today among the valley's Jewish population?
(What do you think this will do for the peace process? Do you expect it to
bring the nation of Israel together or create a greater division between Arabs
and Jews?)
(Do you think the assassination was a political or theological statement?)
(Because the alleged gunman was Jewish and not Arab, do you think this will
make a difference when it comes to any kind of backlash?)
(The guman, a 27-year old law student who was an opponent of the peace
processs, said in his confession this morning in court that Rabin was giving
his country to the Arabs, what kind of following does this movement have?)
