Martin has been arraigned for killing his wife.
But police predict that won't be his last day in court.
The bodies of 32- year old Joseph Siffert, Junior and his girlfriend,
Barbara Hackney were also discovered inside a nearby residence.
Police believe minutes after shooting his wife, Martin ran up the street
and into the couple's home.
They were shot several times, but their infant daughter was found in the

Promising to abolish parole and build prisons is what put George Allen in
the governor's office.
But the prison- building plan may well have led to the ouster of two of his
fellow Republicans on the Wythe County Board of Supervisors.
Olin Armentrout lost his seat in the Fort Chiswell District to Clay
And in the Speedwell District, incumbent Jack Crosswell was defeated by
Democrat Harvey Atkinson.
Crosswell and Armentrout have both supported Corrections Corporation of
America's efforts to build a private prison in the county.

Before the election, Marye announced a plan to improve the ratio of students
to computers in public schools to three-to-one.

Marye took 53 percent of the vote to defeat Pat Cupp, a realtor from
Cupp outspent the incumbent by 60- thousand dollars in the most expensive
race the 39th district has ever seen.
The district includes Montgomery, Grayson and Smyth counties, parts of
Carroll and Pulaski, and the city of Galax.
Despite the statewide results, Lynchburg Republicans are satisfied with last
night's election outcomes.
Steve Smallshaw reports victories by Preston Bryant and Steve Newman should
give the city more clout in Richmond.

An inmate's rape fantasy is the focus of a convicted murderer's appeal.
Today, an attorney for Billy Layne asked an appeals court to reverse his
client's conviction, because of evidence he says the judge should not have
allowed in court.
During Layne's murder trial in 1994, the jury heard testimony about a
conversation in which Layne allegedly spoke of another inmate's rape fantasy.
Today, Layne's attorney argued that statement was hearsay that prejudiced

city's retail district, but this will likely be its last holiday season.
Len Besthoff says he's been hearing rumors about this for some time. Now
he's got it nailed down. It's true.
That's right Keith, for the past few years there's been speculation that the
Heironimus Department Store chain would close its location in downtown Roanoke.
News-7 learned late this afternoon that Heironimus has picked a definite
time frame in which this will take place.
Sources say it will vacate its downtown location early next year.
The store's lease on the property expires in January, but Heironimus
indicates that it may stay there a little while longer.
The president of Heironimus would not comment.
We don't know how many people work in the downtown store.
Heironimus has about half a dozen stores in our area.
It was a locally based chain up until two years ago, when it was bought by a

intersection where two children were killed needs to be changed.
The accident happened less than a month ago as the two children were on
their way to the store. The car they were riding in was struck by a dump truck
at an intersection on Route 2-65.
