There was a TRIPLE murder in Halifax County last night.
Police say two women and a man were found shot to death in their homes.

Two of the victims were discovered in a one story home on Wolftrap Road.
Police say it appears 32- year old Joseph Siffert, Junior and 42- year old
Barbara Hackney were shot more than once.
A third victim was discovered at a neighboring mobile home, and has been
identified as Marian Hackney Martin.
Authorities have charged Martin's husband with her murder.
Raleigh Dean Martin is being held in the Halifax County jail.
Authorities aren't certain of a motive, but say the crime may have been
An attorney for Billy Layne today asked a panel of state judges to overturn
his murder conviction.
Layne was sentenced to two life terms for the abduction and murder of
Phadra Carter, the Rockbridge County girl who disappeared from her home in

after the murder, should not have been allowed as evidence during his trial.

With an even split along party lines, Democratic Lieutenant Governor Don
Beyer would break any tie.
Republicans could have had a majority in the Senate if Democrat Virgil Goode

state Senate evenly divided.
Last night's defeat was TOO much for Allen, who was a NO- SHOW at the ONLY
public appearance he had scheduled.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with the assassination of
Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
