While the fiscal bills are for a short period of time.. the borrowing bill through December 12th.. the spending bill through December first.. the White House says it's not the time but the subtance that's the issue.

While the borrowing bill.. which temporarily increases the government's debt limit is on it's way to the white house, Congress will be pushing the deadline on the short term spending bill. The senate which is in recess until Monday must cast one more vote. Should no compromise be reached, the President will veto it.
And that means come Monday at midnight while essential services will continue, 800,000 federal employees will be out of work, offices will be closed, veterans' benefits will be stalled, and there won't be anyone to accept new social security applications. Regina Blakely CBS News, Washington.))

But Torgersen says the proposal isn't anything new. Two years ago it was suggested as part of a restructuring plan.
That plan cut one and a half million dollars from the college.
Provost Peggy Meszaros hopes the General Assembly will look favorably on the ongoing campus- wide cost- saving measures when it considers future funding.

Firefighters from 40 departments were there- They used at least a half dozen cranes to pour water on the fire.

Last night in New York, Brown blew up at a replacement official in a game against the Knicks. Brown missed tonight's game against Sacramento and he was fined 11-thousand dollars.
