government authority.
It's a move that President Clinton hails as a MAJOR step toward peace.

Croatia had threatened to attack the remaining bit of Serb-held territory IF
rebels refused to accept the plan for its reintegration.

An Appomattox man is dead after he fell OUT of his pickup truck.
Police say 31-year-old David Ray Maddox was driving south on Route 29 near
Five Forks Road in Amherst County last night... when the door of his truck
swung OPEN.
Maddox and one of his passengers fell out, and the truck ran off the road,
and hit a cable box.
Maddox died at the scene.

In Rockbridge County, HEAVY rainfall and COLD temperatures made for a
BAD combination as a group of Tidewater Boy Scouts camped in the mountains.
Emergency crews rescued 20 scouts suffering from hypothermia early yesterday,
guiding them over a gorge filled by a rain-swollen river.
Rescue workers say the group was cold and wet but in GOOD spirits when help
arrived.
All the boys have been treated and released from nearby hospitals.

John Baird have been arrested in Vernon, Oklahoma by federal agents.

F-B-I investigators say the three plotted to make a bomb and use it on a
white separatist community.
Agents found three weapons, a stockpile of ammunition and a crude,
homemade explosive.
Federeal agents believe Lampley planned a bombing to stir up anti-government

The Lampleys and Baird are scheduled to appear in federal court today.

In just seven seconds, a 68-year old, 12-story hotel became a pile of dust
yesterday in Beaumont, Texas.
The old LaSalle Hotel was imploded to make room for a parking lot.
The hotel was built in 19-27.
Officials say it could not be outfitted with air conditioning and therefore
was not a candidate for renovation.
People from miles around came to Beaumont to watch the spectacular event.
