This week's Time Magazine has labelled Governor Allen a loser.
The magazine said last Tuesday was "a bad day for the G-O-P in Virginia where the strenuous efforts of Allen and the national party failed to win control of the legislature."
Also joining Allen on the loser list are Cleveland Browns fans who lost their team to Baltimore, and U.S. Energy Secretary Hazel O'Leary.
She hired a firm to rate reporters on how many negative stories they wrote about her department.

The federal government is passing up today's deadline to TAKE OVER an air pollution program that regulates Virginia businesses.
The U-S Environmental Protection Agency has THREATENED to take over the program, IF a dispute with Governor Allen is NOT resolved.
The dispute centers on whether Virginia should expand the right of citizens to challenge the permits in court -- Allen says NO, the EPA yes.
EPA officials say the regulations they need to run the program will NOT be in place until early next year.

Astronauts have installed a 15-foot docking tunnel that will be used to attach to the Russian space station, Mir (meer).

That's a major step in preparing for tomorrow's docking with Mir.
Astronauts had to use the shuttle robot arm to position the tunnel just above the shuttle's docking ring.
The tunnel will be left attached to Mir when the shuttle departs, to make future linkups safer and easier.

A one million dollar grant to Radford University's nursing program will provide scholarships for students and a scholarship endowment for nursing majors.
The grant was a gift from an anonymous donor.
The money also will help the university set up a Center for Applied Health Research.
