he committed no crime.
Metzger's resignation came just hours after an Administration audit was
turned over to State Police.

The State's Parole Board Chairman resigned today- but George Metzer says he
did not commit a crime.
Metzger did admit to irreconcilable differences with other parole board
members, and to offending two female members with an "off-color" joke.
His resignation came-- just hours after an Administration audit was made
public and turned over to State Police.

Corrections Corporation of America has worn out its welcome in Wythe County.
The Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution today opposing any type of
state, federal or private prison within its borders.
Prison opponents celebrated, after months of berating the board for not
holding a public referendum before voting last January to welcome a private

two others reversed themselves today.

see how a passenger train service would go through southwest Virginia.
Consultants are recommending running a tilt train on conventional train

Up next on news 7, a Pittsylvania landfill gets a new look,
and we'll tell you why one supermarket chain believes bigger is better.
A Pittsylvania County landfill has taken on a new look.
Officials from the Environmental Protection Agency were in Blairs today to
give residents a first hand look at the CLEANED UP First Piedmont Rock Quarry.
The four- acre site was used as a quarry until 1970, when it was turned
into an industrial landfill.
It wasn't until the landfill caught fire that the EPA got involved.
Officials were concerned about arsenic and lead contamination.
As part of the clean-up, the EPA threw items out including tires and drums.

The Region Three girls basketball tournament played out the semi final round
LAST night over at William Byrd.

A Danville College will benefit from the generosity of a Roanoke woman's
Averett College today announced its largest gift in the college's 136- year

which will be named in honor of Blunt's son.
