Meantime, Congressional Democrats are having a field day with House Speaker Newt Gingrich's recent statements about the budget.
Gingrich told reporters he'd taken a hard line on the budget, in part, because the President snubbed him on a plane ride home from Yitzhak Rabin's funeral.
The speaker didn't back down during an appearance on the C-B-S Evening News.
He called the plane ride a missed opportunity to discuss the budget.

The nation's Christmas tree is on its way to Washington.
The 75-foot Douglas fir first traveled through San Francisco for a ceremony at Golden Gate Park.
Some of the city's grade schoolers presented about 1-thousand handmade ornaments to adorn the tree, including a 6 foot red bow.
The tree is from northeastern California and will make stops in Utah, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Maryland before it arrives in the nation's capitol for a tree lighting ceremony on December 13th.

Former state Senator Daniel Woodrow Bird of Bland -- who served almost 25 years in the General Assembly -- has died.
Bird died last night at his home. He was 83.
He was elected to the House of Delegates in 19-47 and served there until he won a state Senate seat in 19-56.
Bird remained in the Senate until 19-71 -- when he decided NOT to run again.

In Danville, authorities have determined the identity of a decomposed body discovered there.

The woman's remains were found October 28th behind Motley's Warehouse.
The body has been identified as Robin Annette Gatewood of 220- Sylvan Road in Danville.
Her cause of death is still unknown.

Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield will refund millions of dollars to some of its customers next month.
At the request of the State Corporation Commission, Trigon has re-opened an insurance refund program that originally ended in January.
The refunds will be offered again because not many of the eligible customers filed claims.
The S-C-C ordered Trigon to give refunds because it charged policyholders more than it cost to reimburse hospitals.

Consultants are recommending running a train from Bristol to Washington and Richmond.
The twice daily train would have fourteen stops in between.
The director of rail and public transportation says his department will work closely with Norfolk Southern.
