And thanks to some neighbors, no one was hurt in a fire in the Lafayette
(La-FAY-ette) section of Montgomery County this morning.
At about three, neighbors noticed Edith Parker's house on Gardner Street was
on fire.
One neighbor entered the house to wake the two people inside.
Others threw water on the flames and used fire extinguishers to keep the
blaze under control until the fire department arrived.
Fire officials say it was probably caused by an electrical problem.

A POWERFUL earthquake shook the Middle East today.
Israeli officials say at least FIVE people are dead and DOZENS injured by
the SIX point TWO quake.
It was felt in parts of Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
One of the hardest hit areas is the Israeli resort of Eliat (ay-LAHT').
SEVEN hotels in the town and more than 50 other buildings were damaged.

The agreement divides Bosnia into TWO territories with a central government

Authorities in the Middle East are revising the number of people killed in
today's earthquake.
They now say at least four people have died.
An earlier tally had put the toll at at least five.
But Egypt's Interior Ministry says a doctor who was critically injured in
the quake was mistakenly counted among the dead.
Israel puts the quake's magnitude at six-point-two.
It was felt in parts of Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

And thanks to some neighbors, no one was hurt in a fire in the Lafayette
(La-FAY-ette) section of Montgomery County this morning.
At about three, neighbors noticed Edith Parker's house on Gardner Street was
on fire.
One neighbor entered the house to wake the two people inside.
Others threw water on the flames and used fire extinguishers to keep the
blaze under control until the fire department arrived.
Fire officials say it was probably caused by an electrical problem.

A hunter armed with an assault rifle opened fire on what he thought was a
wild turkey in Nelson County.
Authorities say it turned out to be his hunting partner.
They say 28-year-old Byron Terrell of Waynesboro was shot yesterday by
24-year-old Toby Miner of Nellysford.
Terrell is in good condition at the U-V-A Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Turkey season ended November 11th and won't start again until December 11th.
Charges are pending against Miner.

Ellett Valley.
Between 1989 and 1993, supervisors passed seven resolutions SUPPORTING the

Park, whose main attraction is its interstate access.
