The body of 25-year old Robin Jeanette Burge was found Wednesday.

Two hunters found Burge's body in the eastern end of Amherst County on a river bank.
Police say she had been shot several times.
Investigators believe Burge was shot then dumped in the river. picture
Family members say it had been two years since they last saw her.
Burge had apparently broken off all contact with them after she returned home from the Navy.
Burge was in her mid 20's, about 5-foot 5 inches tall.

In Rocky Mount, a five- year- old boy is in the hospital after falling off a Christmas float.
The boy apparently was riding on a haywagon when he fell.
The wagon then stuck the boy.
It happened around 4-30 this afternoon.
He was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital and later flown to Roanoke Memorial.
No word yet on his condition.

Dole has collected nearly 800-thousand dollars in mostly large donations.

About 160 full time salaried workers are eligible.

Alpine Lake in Preston County, is offering ice skating and a new feature for sledders: a tow rope for returns up the mountain.

Make sure you have an emergency supply of water and non-perishable foods.
Have a flashlight and battery-powered radio, with extra batteries-- a first-aid kit and additional prescription medication.
They suggest your car be in good running order. Check all your fluid levels and tire pressures.
To keep your water pipes from freezing wrap them in insulation.
These are just a few suggestions.
