Should U-S troops go to Bosnia? Senators began hearings on that topic

The question- whether 20 thousand U-S soldiers should become part of a
NATO peacekeeping force.
Some senators complained the goals of the mission are unclear- while
others support the mission.
Three former defense heavy hitters were there- some saying supporting the
troops is better than the alternative.

All three former defense officials agree the risk to American troops is

Meanwhile, Croatia faced its first protests against the peace accord.
Displaced Bosnian Croats are calling the accord illegal and illegitimate.
Protestors rallied in front of the Croatian parliament-
They're angry that Serbs will be allowed to control a corridor linking
Bosnian Serbs to Serbia.
Croats living in the area don't want to live under Serb leadership.
Virginia Republicans will get a new party chairman next year.
Out goes the colorful Pat McSweeney.
And the only publicly announced candidate for his post is a member of
Governor George Allen's cabinet.
Ellen Qualls is in our Richmond newsroom.
Secretary of the Administration Mike Thomas tried to oust McSweeney in 1993.
George Allen and Pat McSweeney have NOT been bosom buddies since Allen's
race for Governor, when he felt McSweeney didn't support him strongly enough.

Presumably, cabinet secretaries lobby for their Governor's agenda.

southern heritage, and told Oliver North that it wasn't cost effective to seek
the black vote in the final days of the 1994 race for Senate.

A man with a familiar name is the front runner in the race for an
Illinois Congressional seat-
30 year old Jesse Jackson Junior is hoping to win the spot.
He is hoping to take the seat left by Mel Reynolds- the congressman who
resigned after being convicted of having sex with a minor.
If Jackson wins today, he faces a General election December 12th against a
A Detroit boy allegedly sold by his mother to pay off a drug debt is
described by one officer as a very old 15-year-old.
Authorities confirm that they found the boy early today.
They say his drug-addicted mother SUPER=03-Detroit;
and a known drug dealer are held and will likely face charges.
The boy apparently had been missing for several months.
