A fire in Henry County kills a toddler- Now investigators say someone
may have intentionally started the blaze.
It broke out this afternoon-
Plus authorities are investigating a murder in Martinsville tonight. A

Henry County could be looking at its sixth homocide in as many weeks-
as a toddler dies in what investigators are calling a suspicious fire.
Around three this afternoon one year old Ethan Cole Kirkman died in a house
fire- It broke out on Bittersweet Drive in the Sanville area.
Investigators say someone may have started the blaze in a lower bedroom.

The child's parents Colvin and Wanda Kirkman and his grandmother were all
outside the house when the fire started.
They were unsuccessful at trying to rescue the toddler.
All three adults were taken to Martinsville hospital where they were treated
and released for smoke inhalation.
The fire is still under investigation.
A teenager is dead and another teen from Martisville stands accused of his
18-year old Corey Lavon Hairston is charged with fatally shooting 19-year
old Douglas Holland Junior.
Authorities believe the pair were arguing- in the parking lot of a
conveinence store on Fayette Street when the shooting happened earlier tonight.

Rescue workers treated Holland at the scene before taking him to the hospital
where he was later pronounced dead.
For the second time in just a few days, robbers have held up a Lynchburg
Authorities are now searching for suspects in THREE bank robberies there

(( Doug Pickeral was standing outside his Main Street barber shop Thursday when
he got a firsthand look at a bank robbery.

The two men who had just robbed the First Virginia bank were escaping on
foot when a dye pack in their bag of money exploded.
Pickeral was able to recover some of the cash, but the suspects got away.
A plastic grocery bag with red dye on it was found a few blocks away but the
bank robbers trail had gone cold.
This was Lynchburg's second robbery in two days, and third this month.

The suspects in today's robbery are described as two black males... one is
about six feet tall, and was wearing a blue sweatshirt with a white turtleneck
and a blue baseball hat.
The other is 5 feet 6 inches tall, and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt,
with black jeans.
Anyone with information about the crime should contact the Lynchburg police.
Former financial trader Nick Leeson- says he's guilty of fraud and forgery
in the collapse of Barings bank.
Leeson's unauthorized trades ran up almost one and half billion dollars
in losses for Barings- enough to break the bank.
Leeson entered the guilty pleas in an apparent plea bargain in
He's struck a deal with prosecutors and lawyers expect he'll get off
with only one or two years behind bars.

Republicans have their defense spending and the President has the money for

The deal is good for the next 15 years. Hillsville will nearly double in
size, and possibly triple later on, though it gives up further annexation
